<title>Regulation Lowers Prices</title>

<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/229804"><b>B</b></A> : <br>The only competitive arrangement is for those fortunate enough to have Time Warner Cable.  Thanks to government regulation during the initial AOL Time Warner merger, Earthlink and other ISPs were permitted to provide services across TW cable lines.<br><br>For those, as described in this article, who don't subscribe to cable TV, these competing carriers provide a MUCH better deal (often as much as $19 less per month) than the cable companies (in this case Time Warner) do.<br><br>I just wish there were some more regulation to reign in the Bells' voracious appetites as they continue to drive DSL CLECs out of existence.<br><br>I'm not a telco junkie -- if I've got some or all of this wrong I'm sure one of you folks will stop by to correct me!<br><br>-- B<br><SMALL>--<br>In a realm outside causality and function</SMALL>]]></description>
