That will give you broadband from a dial up connection. Tell everyone about it etc. But if the software has a crappy interface that isn't user friendly. Then your going to have problems. Kaspersky is a prime example. For years it was mostly used by geeks. The interface was easy to figure out for most of them. But your average consumer found it hard to deal with. This is part of the reason it has taken Kaspersky so long to now become somewhat popular. Not the only reason but a key element in the equation.

I'm really surprised no one here has picked up on my is Spybot malware article. Because according to CPU magazine author Alex St. John it is. Of course he didn't come right out and say things that way. But if you read his recent CPU magazine article. That is definitely the slant he seems to be leaning towards. This author is also the President and CEO of WildTangent.

Either way functionality is a key part of software usability.
Mele20 : I haven't read the article. I knew that Spybot had skins but I have not been interested and have none. But that is only because Spybot looks good and doesn't need a skin IMO. However, music players are a different story. WMP is the ugliest thing...looks like a lumbering hippopatomus. Winamp has FANTASTIC skins and tons and tons of them. One reason I love Winamp. Of course, skins are FAR more important on something like a music player that you look at all the time than on Spybot which I run maybe once or twice a month.

As for Norton, it has the BEST interface of all AV and always has had. What's wrong with looking good? NOD32 used to be so hideously ugly with that alien blob that I tried three times before I decided that I could stand to use it. It desperately needed some skins! And even if it was rated no. 1 AV by VB, if it was hideous looking, I didn't want it. WMP is so ugly I won't go near it. 6.4 is good looking though and that is what I use. So, yeah, I certainly think how something looks is part of one's decision as to whether or not to use it. MSAS is also extremely ugly and confusing as heck. Bad interface.
--
The first and foremost function of our jurors is to protect private citizens from a tyrannical and intrusive government...Jurors are the last line of defense for liberty.
