When it comes to buying the CPE's, DO NOT go out and buy 100 at a time. There are a few reasons for this, The first one being the fact that technology changes so quickly, and it never fails that right AFTER You make that big bargain discount quantity purchase, the CO You use or another CO with the same hardware will now offer a CPE with twice as many features for $30 less than You just paid for the "bulk" rate in single unit pricing. My other thought is this, STAY AWAY from expensive things like bucket trucks, fancy vans all painted up with the CO logo etc. Bucket trucks are a big expense, and they are unusable in 90% of the installs that You will do. It becomes a VERY expensive dust collector. For an install vehicle, go find a half decent looking van for $2000 or so and get a magnetic sign made. With a magnetic sign, You can put it on Your van, or Your car if You are going to see a perspective client(Or You can put it on the new van when the old one expires:D ). I like vans over trucks because You put almost the entire shop inside of it. This will save You the 4000 trips back and forth when You forget stuff(And You WILL forget something!). How many watts should the Solar Panel be for optimum performance?
It depends on what the connected load is...and how much sun you have at your location. I would suggest the largest capacity panels that you can afford, since you only want to build this once, and it gives you that much more "headroom" for a few "sunny-less" days. I also have a small generator that automatically starts if necessary...

How about a 30' tower? Or is that overkill. I have one I bought for $20.00.

At that elevation the wind is going to be whippin'...so more height is not an advantage. It is really not necessary, either. An important criteria is the face width of the tower. This is because you are going to be mounting large antennas on it, and the wind will apply strong torsion (twisting) forces on the tower. If the tower is not rigid, then the antennas will move and the beam will swing. While this can hardly be seen at the sending end, a degree or so of movement will translate into a very significant distance at the far end (do the trigonometry). So, for the best performance, use a heavy-duty tower 18' to 24' across the face. Rohn 55G is the ticket..a section of 55G is $325 at Electro-Comm:

Having said all that, if the tower that you have meets that criteria, then I would cut that tower in half, use the 5 foot section to install in the concrete base and bolt the other 10 foot section to that.

This is something that you are going to want to do only one time, so do it right the first time. Sure, that costs some money, but not THAT much, compared to the time and effort that it will take to do this. So, do it right the first time.

Your assemblage of the various parts and pieces must be well thought out, and careful and precise in every respect. The tendency is to move quickly, to just get the thing up and running, focusing on that part of the job, without considering every detail, electrically and mechanically. Both are equally important...
--
A is A

Need Some help On Point to Multi Point Connection.

operad : I'm going to be supplying the 3 cities below with Wireless Internet, but I'm a little stumped on exactly how many antenna's and AP's I will need on each site. The Hub Site is installed at the Medical Springs Location and needs to supply the other two cities with internet. If it was just a Point to Point it would be a lot easier. I dont need specific on equipment brands, just details or idea's on setup. I know I'm going to need a high ration of signal to noise for this to work well. Would it be easier to go from Medical Springs to Haines with a PtP and then another PtP from Medical Springs to North Powder? Im going to run 2 90 degree sectors(2.4 spectrum) at each site including the Hub site, plus the direction antenna(5.7 spectrum for the PtP.)

I would also like to implement FHSS(Raylink) for the AP's supplying the bandwidth if possible. Below is some info:

Mediacal Springs Elevation 3440 feet
Medical Springs- Antenna Elevation 3,800
Haines Elevation = 3,333 zipcode 97833
Haines Antenna Elevation 3,790
North Powder Elevation 3,279 97867
North Powder Antenna Site 3,837

Link to
Medical Springs to Haines = 10 miles
Haines to North Powder = 11 miles
<TABLE WIDTH=95% align=center border=0 CELLPADDING=4">
