 | reply to DylanL We're not seeing a 100% outage yet here. There is one user report of an outage though and Vonage definitely missed some calls in the last hour. However, our systems were able to complete at least one call this hour and the previous hour. -- SipSource: VoIP Uptime Reports & User Reviews |

 | reply to DylanL It seems to work erratically here in Central Ohio, 614. Tried outgoing about an hour a go and got a fast busy. I just recently made two outgoing and received 1 incoming just fine. -- Sprint 1500/328 HSI,Vonage,Tele-Data Cabling Technician,Private Pilot |

 | reply to DylanL Looks like they are moving their traffic off of WilTel (wcg.net) onto MCI (UU/Alter.net).
WilTel is much cheaper than UUnet and has had ongoing peering issues. |

ropeguruPremium join:2001-01-25 Mechanicsville, VA | Kind of a strange time of day to be screwing with routing. Seems like they would do this at night when most of the U.S. and Canada are sleeping and the call loads are down.
But, that's right, most of taday's IT departments have forgotten about causing the least impact on customers and more about paying the workers OT for doing maintenance at night. -- FWD#: 223611 |

 | reply to ropeguru They may have had no choice. If their WilTel transit degraded on them then it's either leave customers with bad service for hours or let them experience a temp interruption in service until routing tables update and push traffic over MCI/UUnet.
The reason for using WilTel is simple. It's cheap! Vonage will be paying a hell of a lot more for UUnet transit. |

Then they should have notified there customers either web interface or email of a planned network maintenence window. I not going to buy a major infastructure melt down was a result of planned maintence in prime time two days in a row. If it was by design without prior customer notification, there idiots! I am still not able to log in to my account. So what exploded yesterday that caused the 30 min outage? |

By having outages like this, if they are in transition, they will be paying more than they know... Espicially by pissing off their customers two days in a row..
And if they are as great as they are claiming to be in all their commercials, they should have been paying someone like UUNET since the beginning..

Yeah, the rates we've been quoted by MCI for DS-3 were insane. We got a Gig-E from Level(3) for about the same price. |
