Everyday, twice a day, since last Friday, I have been shutting down the modem to see if it syncs at the faster rate. It never did. I just had the same old download and upload. I called this morning, they said that it was done yesterday. They sent me to the Tech Dept. She said, "What did you use to test it." I said, "BroadbandReports.com" That always shuts them up. She looked at her computer and said, "Hmph. I have to call another dept." I held on the phone. She came back and said, "Ok. Try it again." This time, it tested at 834/35. At which point she started to tell me that everything was fine. It had already been upgraded. They tested my line, etc. Then she said, "We can send out a Tech but if the speed is fine for them, you will get billed for the service call." I do understand that this a Tier 1 Tech Support, but come on. So, of course, a power cycle cured it. I bet they just upgraded my speed when I called.
alphawave7 : Interesting developments today. Turns out my contract doesn't expire until next month, and this months bill(78.94) is actually for March *and* April!?!? Anyway csr roulette wasn't as favorable for me. :( Billing was first..said I could either cancel existing a re-sign up over the net to get the 19.95 price(isn't there an early cancellation fee?), or I can renew at current 36.95. She claimed she didn't have the authority to give me the promo rate WITHOUT the All Distances package included. She did mention only Retention could assist me on that, and connected me. Retention repeated Billing, saying I wasn't able to get the new promo rate, and keep my existing long distance package(~$4-5/month). He did say if I *did* want $29.99, the only way was to re-up WITH All Connections, which would raise my long distance up to ~$20/month!! No deal there, as I make maybe one long distance call a month. Best he'd offer was re-upping at current 36.95. So it looks like Toaster is (surprise) right again! :P Congrats to those it did work for.
