It's Amtrak, and the coverage isn't really any worse than Europe's offerings.

When Big Brother subsidizes all sorts of neat things, it's easy to have them. If you told the average person, (who might NOT have health care), that the US government should subsidize extremely high-speed broadband, so a bunch of technogeeks could fileshare a bunch of crap, they would look at you like were mentally ill, and they would be right.

There is a hell of lot more important things the US Government should be doing. Subsidizing broadband is at the bottom of the list, IMO.

Last time I looked those other countries are larger than many single states here in the US. The point being made is that there is absolutely no reason why many of out large cities can not have networks like those countries do. The fact remains that companies here in the US are greedy and don't want to spend any money. Amen! Every time I see one of these I post that and someone always fires something at me. Infrastructure is the key, it would take more for one state than any of those other countries. Plain and simple.

Now my area will probably be one of the last areas to see this. My CO wasn't enabled with DSL until September of last year.
