I have to have it for work but God is it slow and how many pages won't load and you have to click the reload button.  It's truly worse than any modem I've ever used.  500kbps would be a God send in my opinion, much less 3.7mbps (I use an external antenna, get max bars too).  Anyone know when Sacramento is being upgraded to the broadband speeds?  I'll worship the ground you walk on if anyone knows because I'm seriously considering getting a WISP connection at work if broadband is going to take forever to get here.]]></description>

This is at full signal with my magnetic mount antenna jacked directly into the aircard.  I have seen speeds upwards of 1.5mbit and I am not REAL close to the tower.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/1118627"><b>azon</b></A> : We just got the Sierra Wireless 5220 card for EvDo and the older technology as well (1xRtt or something, sorry don't remember).  It's $80/month, so not cheap, but necc for business.<br>Tested speeds at full reception are 3.3 Mbits, 1.6 Mbits, and 6.6 Mbits for the tests I ran one right after another.  Just 2 bars reception still yields between 1.5 and 3 Mbits.<br>It does have something from Venturi Software that says it is used for compression.  It was set to "best quality" not "fastest".<br>It is easy to use, you just have to have the Verizon software installed with it.<br>One caveat: On our laptop at least... Anytime the Verizon Connection software is run our wireless card (miniPCI 802.11b/g) MUST be turned off or the computer will reset.  No blue screen, no warnings, just reset.<br>Haven't called tech support on it as my wife left out of town with the laptop and card on business trip.]]></description>

I could see overly high data rates with compressible data, assuming that data compression is used not only on the EV-DO interface, but the T-1's as well. Minimal resistance antenna.<br><br>2) thanks VERYYY much for the benefit of the Doubt DumbWaldo... appreciate... i will say though the that 3.7 MBPS speed is a speed that I personally verified and pushed...<br><br>it is accomplished by<br><br>a) Optimizing PROXY Settings<br>this is crucial due to the "tolken ring - like" Verizon data network setup... if you do NOT customize your Proxy setup to the DEDICATED Verizon Wireless Proxy (and this does NOT happen when you install the Drivers) then you are looking at massive ping times, and latency...<br><br>b) compression<br>but... this is Real full data compression... NON LOSSY.<br>in otherwords... yes.. .the compression does LOOSE data in GIF and JPG images... You can get the same one for under $40.00 through links from the manufacture. Go to www.antennas.com. - its the "ARC Freedom Antenna" from ARC Wireless Communications Products. After seeing such a price disparity between the two, I though I would wait until someone posts the "unlock" if there is one.<br><br>By the way - the antenna truly improves reception. I went from 2 bars to a solid full signal. For the couple of hundred dollars I got the proper connector to the card and the research that this particular antenna would work properly. ]]></description>
