These virus writers just attempt to exploit the fruits of the real innovators. If half of the world's software/technology innovators turned evil and worked together to create worms and virii, the information superhighway would be permanently destroyed within days.

Most of the time virus writers put into their product is how to sneak it past the end user. I'm sure it took a REAL genius to figure out that you could make a lot of people open an otherwise suspicious email by labeling the attachment Anna Kournikova. Then again one has to wonder how many are just script kiddies with ideas and barely enough brains to morph a virus into a semi sized problem.
