Other companies use Bell's backbone for both of those services and seem to flouish just fine.<br><br>Oh, and BTW, Bell is only objecting to price regulation by the CRTC.  They want the CRTC to still come up with and enforce QOS rules and standards so that everyone plays on the same field.]]></description>

Problem is its not just about price deregulation (or whatever they are complaining about now). Bell wants to be treated like a small fry when they arent.(they own major backbones)  If Bell gets deregulated, later on down the road when everyone uses VOIP, Bell could fix their routers to give a lower priority or worse piority to packets from other VOIP companies possibly resulting in what appears to be poor service from the customers point of view. Bell Canada is still maybe a year to year and a half away from offering residential VoIP service.  Vonage, Primus and some others are already selling theirs.  Besides, the CRTC doesn't regulate Broadband ISP pricing, and there's tons of smaller DSL companies around.<br><br>Oh, and the main reason why Bell Canada wants VoIP in such a bad way is to take on Telus out west.  In Ontario and Quebec, VoIP will be part of the strategy, but VDSL will be the main focus because of all the copper in the ground.]]></description>
