mknieri : After having the Platinum service for a month now, I realized that speeds of at least 256kbps are guaranteed. Anything above that for download and upload is gravy. I'm working on a full review of the service and my experiences so far, which I'll post in the reviews section.

mknieri : Same here. If there is a download cap, it is not on their website. Maybe buried in the TOS contract? I took a stab and signed up for the Platinum service this week. I live in Gilberts (Timber Trails off Big Timber Rd) and I'm 1.5 miles from the tower off route 72. I'm getting just under 3 megabit up and down. But I started a 650 MB download last night around 9 PM and it didn't finish until about 10:30 or 11 PM. Seem to slow down around the 100-200 MB mark. I'll have do more tests and see when they throttle you back, unless someone can clearly point out what the throttle back point is in a large download.

ModemJunki : I too read about it in the reviews but didn't see clear specification on it online. I occasionally download many megabytes at a time, and I do see my download speed drop slowly after an inordinatley huge amount of activity on my part, but the speed picks back up again after I stop and wait a while.

I've never measured it, I take it for granted that my speed is being throttled back (it's shared bandwidth, after all).

If you are considering the service, don't let this one thing bother you. I'm as pleased as can be with the throughput, reliability, and customer support as can be, and I'm a network support guy at my company, and so can be quite critical if need be.:D
