[Resurrection] Should GBU reviews be moderated

Forgive me for resurrecting the \gbu fairness/unfairness issue ... but I am brimming over with frustration from reading the reviews for one of the newer providers -- PhonePower.

http://www.dslreports.com/comments/3039
Click on (3 negative) to view the negative reviews.

I have no financial interest in this company. I do have a PP account ... I have not posted a review yet ... but I am amazed that only 3 negative reviews (that's 3 out of 30) can pull down a company's \gbu ratings based on blatantly illogical reasoning.

Review #1:
The reviewer states "MUST have a very GOOD ISP and patience" - and - "If you don't have an excellent ISP, great packetting it aint a gonna work!"

Further along, two contradictory "ultimately" statements are made: "ultimately it was a fifty fity split on who was at fault, my ISP or them." - and - "Ultimately many months later my ISP (Wave Broadband) has after 8 months of testing finally admitted that they have oversold internet..." (which would appear to place 100% of the blame on the ISP).

And best of all, after admitting the ISP was at fault, we learn "Looks like they're [meaning PhonePower] still screwed up." Duh! :p

Review #2:
The reviewer complains that "for some reason my service with Att was turned off automatically after I made the order from Power Phone." Huh? Who the heck is Power Phone?

Then we hear that the poster could not get the PP-provided adapter to work with the newly acquired dry DSL line --- "I spent the next evening trying to get in touch with PP support with no luck. the next day I was able to make contact and set up a call time when I get home. They called me on time and from there we spent exactly 4 hours trying to setup their router with no avail. then the support tech said the equipment may be faulty and they will send in new router."

After an as-promised on-time callback from PP and a four hour support session and an offer of a new adapter -- this poster opted to walk away from PP ... and post a devastatingly inaccurate review.

Duh! :p

Review #3:
In this post, at least the reviewer gives fair reviews for each criterion ... except "Value for money". The statment "Would only recommend for LOW volume user. 4 cents per min after 2000" shows a lack of familiarity with VoIP pricing in general.

First off, PP's pricing for their plans is in line with the majority of providers. And, as most of us know, just about all VoIP providers have a "soft cap" on monthly minutes for residential accounts. As I recall, Brendan from ViaTalk had mentioned a 1500 corrected 5000 minutes/month soft limit at which point an account is analyzed to see if it is being used for business. PhonePower, I believe, now has a 3000 minute cap.

Conclusion:
So based on the poster's misconceptions, this inaccurate rating contributed to lowering a provider's overall position in the \gbu listings. If the powers-that-be wish to remain totally neutral and allow such reviews to remain -- an option which I do not support -- they might consider an Olympic scoring system whereby the top and bottom scores are discarded.

Remove and/or sort ISP review image attachments

While we can all edit our reviews, there is no method (that I can see) to remove old image attachments in our ISP reviews. I've been attaching periodic speed test results and while having the history is nice, the way the attachments appear you end up with a long unordered list pretty easily. Also there doesn't appear to be any way or ordering the attachments. They appear randomly in the mess of images.

I would like to request the ability to both remove image attachments from our own ISP reviews as well as reorder or probably easier just have newest images appear in chronological order (ascending or decending, doesn't matter) of attachment. Image captions would be nice too.
