| I'm very happy with OpenDNS I've been using OpenDNS for 6-8 months now and I must say, I'm very happy with them. In fact, where ever I've setup home routers, I'm pointing their DNS requests to OpenDNS. I'm on TimeWarner's RR.
The miss-typed or incorrect reroute don't really bother me that much. They have to make money in order to keep the service going free of fee.
Thank you OpenDNS | |

I don't particularly like any of the "extra" Open DNS features, but you have to program each Ip to block them.

| china syndrome When the deathstar dns servers for the entire southeast US went down earlier this year I switched to opendns. A few days later every website I went to including places like google and yahoo would immediately redirect to some chinese message board which would proceed to infect my pc with crap. At first I though china was trying to attack the country through the internet lol but then I remembered I had switched to opendns... once I switched back to the seldombreak deathstar servers... server? everything went back to normal. I wouldn't so easily trust those opendns servers again and I certainly wouldn't buy anything online or pay bills online while using opendns servers. | |

| Re: OpenDNS rules! I agree...OpenDNS is great.
I implemented it at work about a year ago. Our techs have had less garbage on the PCs as I blocked certain categories of sites able to be displayed. When the Facebook virus came out, a couple stupid ass users obviously downloaded whatever it was...all I had to do was jump into the dashboard and ban facebook. Three minutes later, users couldn't get there.
Is OpenDNS perfect? No...but for all general purposes, it's a great free service. As working for a non-profit, if its free, its for me!
I also get a laugh out the reasons users need to get to playboy.com...They think no one at the company reads those messages to administrator! LOL....
