2 edits | No thanks. Blu-Ray blows. It's overpriced, the media is a rip-off and after all that the quality only moderately better than upscaled DVD.
If the movies were $10 and the drive was $40, maybe.
IMO it's better for MS to get the price of the console down as cheap as possible or God forbid improve the mfg quality. |

"Our strategy is not to sell more quantity for PS3 but to concentrate on profitability."
Sony's emphasis on making the PS3 profitable has greatly lessened the console's drag on the company's finances.
Xbox 360 Pro will soon cost just $299.... will make it just $50 more than the Nintendo Wii and $100 cheaper than the $399 40GB PlayStation 3.

When the next round of consoles is released, all this crap has got to stop.
All these different console "versions" only make it harder for developers to make games, and all it further does is piss off several of your customers because in order to upgrade once a "better" one is released you have to sell a friggin kidney. Not to mention the fact that some of the upgrades can't be obtained at all without a new console purchase (HDMI). |

Hell, people here gnash and wail about ATM and PPPoE. That's not as big as the performance and bandwidth difference between 480i and 1080p. |

i would say about 2 more years the wii and 360 will be replaced for sure.
Im willing to bet sony will push the ps3 for about 4 more years.
i read somewhere i cant rememeber of the top of my head, that all three where working on the next consoles already and have been for over a year. |

I suppose you buy new DVDs for $8.00?
When I see new DVDs at $22.95 and Blu-rays at $27.95... I'll usually buy the Blu-ray.
If you think the picture difference is moderately better, maybe time to get a better display.
Native 1080p picture, several choices of audio - including PCM(that's uncompressed).
As opposed to a soft, upconverted DVD picture with severely compressed audio - knock yourself out!
Now, if I see a movie that I don't have yet in the $5.99 bin, I'll probably snag it and forego the Blu-ray.
For that priceless look on someone's face when they see what their whoop-ass HDTV can actually do compared to cable HD/Dish HD/upconverted DVD, I'll pick Blu-ray every time!
