@comcast.net | Comcast Hacked Can any of you brilliant minds explain how Comcast was hacked? It sure seems to me that Network Solutions has the explaining to do!

@ptd.net | Re: Comcast Hacked Don't assume Netsol got hacked. more than likely their e-mail was hijacked to start this process.

| That's probably something Comcast doesn't want people to know.
If the WHOIS listed in the below is still there, have a looksie:

I fully agree with someone's post that no system is 100% safe and secure. If anything, it'll take a combination of consistent technical and human intervention to keep such attacks to a bare minimum.
Unfortunately, perception is everything...

| What was the point? What I don't get is what was the purpose other than being a nuisance. They could have easily set-up a site to capture millions of users passwords to do all kinds a devious things. I honestly wouldn't rule out the possibility that may have taken place for a while without out anyone detecting it and then the hackers put that up to look like a standard defacing. That just makes more sense to me if I were to go through the trouble of "hacking" and redirecting DNS info. | |

| Hacked I saw this referenced on »www.SubliminalMessages.Com and wanted to add that Net Sol prides itself on its security measures to avoid stuff like this from taking place. This is really serious and could jeopardize life as we know it if careless registrars allow stuff like this to happen. | |

How long does it take? There must be something pretty bad a foot if it takes them days to get services back up!

Passwordz.... if they can be typed and seen by human eyes, they can be stolen... Nets... cramp up the earth when they travel in cycles.... sPies.. Die also. Why hack when all information can be gathered slowly. They know... encryption is for the smaller people to feel safe. The strongest technologies remain unseen... Notice the atmosphere is getting thick and heavy around Lancaster... there's reasons why... pending 21... and don't forget, when you zoom in, I'll take your eyes and spines away.... be afraid

| Grow up... The fact is if you have enough people who know what they are doing you can pretty much "hack" into anything, everyone who is complaining about comcast service needs to get a life, I have their service and have had one down time the ENTIRE time Ive had their service (well over 3 years) majority of the problems people experience with their service in "most" cases are found to be user error, computer settings, loose/degrading wiring or bad cheap KMart splitters, people who have no idea how to use/setup routers etc. Their stupidity is always someone elses fault.
Regardless, all ISP's have their "horror" stories, and in reference to someone saying that comcast told them their lines were cut, there were three news reported incidents of vandals cutting over 30 fiber optic lines, again that must be comcasts fault right? no. The point is hackers are the same as vandals, except they do it electronically. I hope they get caught and charged.

| comcast hack Firstly, I am glad that in this tough employment environment trolls still get checks. Secondly, tier 1 support is often merely repeating the lies they are told to tell. Thirdly, download a list of public DNS servers so that when "the net is down" you can tell your browser about a WORKING DNS server. And lastly, vandals who do harm should be punished, those who point out that the Emporer has no clothes should be headed. | |

@comcast.net
| Re: comcast hack Well I'm sure that tier 1's do repeat what thier told somewhere or other, but I was a supe for 4 years at an ISP and the tier agents that worked for us could hardly remember the proper troubleshooting steps to assist customers let alone repeat the "lies" that we told them.
truth be told most of the grunts are making that stuff up on the fly, and if it works on one poor Bstrd they will keep repeating it just to get people off the phones. Most companies today outsouce overseas not just because it's cheaper but because people in those other countries actually care about thier jobs unlike most of the US born that feel the company should feel privledged to just have them show up for work.
Any company is only as good as it's front line but these jobs are too far beneath anyone anymore, or so it seems.
