Comments on news posted 2008-04-24 09:17:12: Apparently Ooma's efforts to sell a "free" voice service that costs $400 haven't been going so well, despite being promoted by actor Ashton Kutcher, and despite months of free advertising dressed up as reporting from startup blogs. ..

I'll buy both if the bridge leads to the oceanfront property.

I'd be surprised in MJ lasted 10 months, let alone years.

I'd be very careful before dropping $250 on either of these companies- they both smell like bankruptcy waiting to happen. Don't expect to see any of your money back when that happens.

ooma versus...

The comparisons to magicjack and phonegnome are lame... it's like saying wow, why would I want to pay $250 for an IPOD when I can get a used walkman cassette player for $15? Apples and oranges guys... I had vonage and was paying $60 for two phone lines - check out what AT&T, Verizon or your telco of the month charge for monthly service, THEN compare that to ooma... I paid $450 last september for the equipment and so far have saved $420 ($60 x 7months) over vonage...next month I'll be in the black. I have several friends now that got the $250 deal and wish they would have signed on a few months ago and paid the $450 - but even paying the $99 /year cost the service still is alot cheaper than your other telco choices. ooma is an appliance which can seamlessly integrate into your home phone system, the other solutions don't compare. You get what you pay for...
