Comments on news posted 2007-11-28 10:52:07: In order to gain government approval for its acquisition of BellSouth, AT&T was allowed to conveniently author their own merger conditions (pdf), which the FCC boldly stated they probably wouldn't enforce anyway. ..

| Just Ordered Dry Loop in Northwest burbs of IL So i found the number for Dry loop service this morning on another AT&T customers blog. I called it and in less then ten minutes they had me setup for dry loop service. The price for service in my area is only four dollars more then the POTS + DSL bundle Pro. But its worth cause i don't have to pay for phone service too.
Dry Loop DSL Only has two packages currently:
1. Express: 1.5 Mbps / 384 Kbps $23.99 2. Pro: 3.0 Mbps / 512 Kbps $28.99
Oh i found the number for service on »lukebaker.org/archives/2007/03/0···ked-dsl/ Oh and the number is 888-800-4095

| Signed up in Texas I got Dry Loop DSL at PRO speeds for $28.99 in Lubbock, TX. I had to ask to speak with the Retention department and plead for it; but I did get it.
It took 3 weeks to sort out the entire dropping of the landline, and hooking up of DSL, and renewing my username and password for access.

| NC: How I got 6MBps DSL for $27.95 for 6 months
Hi guys. I'm in Bellsouth terrirory and was not able to get the DSL direct deals stated in the article. However, I was able to get a 6MBps dry loop for $27.95 for 6months, no commitment, no extra fees (then it goes up by $20 after that, but I figure by then I can get this other deal).
How I did it: -Dialed 1-877-737-2478 -"service request" -Transferred to the service request #, enter my phone number, option 4 from main menu, then option 4 again to "disconnect my service". -Spoke to a person there and said I was interested in dry loop service. She tried to keep me with the phone line, and then offer me the DSL with $5 discount. I mentioned the Bellsouth/AT&T merger conditions and asked her to ask her supervisor. When she came back, she suddenly had this deal for me. I did talk to her supervisor and she said she was aware of the AT&T DSL Direct pricing but it hadn't taken effect for NC yet. Hell, for 6 months I'll stick with this price.
Hope this helps,

@rr.com | Re: NC: How I got 6MBps DSL for $27.95 for 6 months Good stuff. I called and got the Pro service for $28.99 with no additional fees. Elite is not available yet. According to the CSR I am too far away from the remote station.
