1 edit | Wha?
What fantasy-land does he live in? The "portals" offered by incumbents are inferior in every way to the companies that are "leeching" off of the ISPs. And, incidentally, how are they "leeching" anything if they're paying their dues as is proper?
He has absolutely no idea what he's even talking about.
Edit: Further, did he just insinuate that people or companies are not allowed to make money on the internet, other than ISPs? |

I wish these huge company's would be shrunk back down to a manageable size they are getting to large and they have to big of heads when they think they can tell the consumer what they should have this is BS... Where are the politicians at that are supposed to be protecting the rights of the little guy like me... oh yea I forgot we live in a society where the government is in the back pocket of the highest bidder and the little guy is just a number paying his taxes like a good little animal.. |

I pay my ISP (RR NYC) to get a connection to the internet, that's all. I don't want anything else from them and I don't even where their portal is as I don't care. This guy is seriously drugged up indeed.

WTF is a portal? Haven't seen Comcast's "portal" in a while now... Home page is set to my main email inbox on one browser, DSLReports - All Forums on the other browser.
Never got into the AOL-ish portal-to-internet thing... never needed it! Even when I was on dialup, no portal was needed/used(Bay Area Internet Solutions dialup). XP dialed and connected, then the dial window closed... What I did after that was my business.

You log into your ISP's webmail?
I don't use mine. I'm not even sure I remember what it is. For pure personal use, I use my GMail and Yahoo Mail e-mail addresses exclusively. |

"This is not an unexpected stage of denial for the 'gatekeepers' of the communications industry. They have become so accustomed to their role of content provider that anything new and exciting is simply irrelevant. Even as it's clubbing them over the head and carrying off their client base into the inky darkness outside their ivory towers." |
