Mozambique has had cable service (in the capital) for a couple of years. Cost $65/mth, but you also HAVE to pay $25/mth for a basic (and poor) cable TV package, whether you want this or not. You cannot have internet access without the TV package. Bandwidth actually available (according to test tools on this site) about 360 down and 100 up on weekends and about half of both these vales during normal working hours. Downloads limited to 2GB/mth, and $50/GB for anything more than this.

There is also a new ADSL service
»www.tdm.mz/portdm/tarifas/b_larg···arga.htm
which costs $70/mth for 2GB/mth @ 128kps down, 64up. extra downloads cost $48/GB

The telecom company (tdm) owns the ASDL dervice and is a major shareholder in the cable network.

There is also a city wide wireless broadband service
»www.intra.co.mz/
whose costs are also in the same range.

All of these services suffer from high packet loss and latency as all connections to the outside world are via satellite. There is an East African fibre optic cable that goes past our door, but as far as I know its only unsed for national comms and not for the internet connections to the outside.
