| We do NOT want an expanded USF!
I'm sorry, but expanding the USF Gore Tax program, which is already shown to be the most fraud rife waste of taxpayer funds in history, to cover ISP services is nothing more than a raw money grab.
Its a back door way of taxing VOIP and other services. |

| Stevens & Inouye led list of PORK abusers
Any bill that is co-sponsored by Senators Stevens and Inouye should be examined very very closely. They led the list for 2005 and almost every other recent year in the amount of Pork Projects they have sucked into Alaska and Hawaii. If they are for something, you can bet it will benefit those two states more than any other in America.
Their interest in modifying the USF should be examined really closely. I'd bet a large sum of money that the taxpayers would be funneling huge sums of money to those two states under any changes to the USF. -- -- Join Red Room Forum BLOG tkjunkmail.blogspot.com My Web Page |

just at what point did the fine folks of Boston decide to have a tea party? I know the number of taxes in this country on the federal, state, county, municiple, school board, etc, etc., is way over the mark of our founding fathers. My question is percentage of everyday income. |

The USF has been around, in one form or another, since dirt was in beta testing. How do you equate it with Al Gore? |

Senators Stevens and Inouye are the exact reason why term limits are needed for senators and representatives. There's no way that the people of Alaska and Hawaii, respectively, will ever vote these guys out because of all the free pork they bring back home at the expense of the rest of us. -- Tancredo 2008! |

The fine gentlemen in Boston got upset about trade and import taxes imposed without representation.
Any taxes you pay were approved by your representatives in government. If you don't like it, vote them out and get new representation.
That is alot easier than getting in a boat, crossing the Atlantic, walking into the King's chambers, and having a chat about taxes. |

Not that the USF isn't important, but I would be more concerned with broadcast flag legislation attached. This bill has a pretty good chance of going through because of the franchise aspect and I wouldn't want to see more stupid restrictive laws placed on an already crippled part of technology. |

Exactly! The broadcast flag will just kill Fair Use. It's almost like they think the VCR allows to much Fair Use and want to restrict the crap out of it to squeeze the customer for every last penny.
And the whole idea of nestling unpopular bills with popular ones should be banned and illegal. It misrepresents policies and could easily include worse legislature. |

The Broadcast Flag says that if you want to build a device that can receive, pass along, or record a digital TV signal, you'll need to show that it won't disrupt the current entertainment company business. That's a test that the remote control, the VCR, the capture card, and the PVR all would have failed. In other words, don't touch our content you lying, cheating, stealing customers! That goes for you too, you innovative upstart company!! How DARE you try to make money on a device that does something with OUR PRECIOUS CONTENT!!!
