good deal-

One user in the BellSouth forum stated that his new sync rate is 8128/512 which is great to compensate for PPoE overhead.

Nothing taken personally. I just find that 5 meg down is okay for my current needs but restoring a huge mysql database at 384kbs just sucks.

OH! MY! We wait all this time for 6.0 and as soon as it's really here the tears start to roll. SAD, just take time and enjoy your new connection.

Bottom line?

What's the bottom line price after all the fees and other fat included? I'm also assuming this isn't available "naked", so include a plain vanilla POTS cost too.

also interested in that as well. I wana upgrade but my current costs are around 50$ a month on Xtreme (3M/256k). I bet they charge me fees and whatnot so what IS the bottom line?

bye bye comcast!

as much as I hate Bellsouth, comcast is worse! Those invisible caps. Also, if the wind blows hard here in FL, comcast goes down. Comcast only has 6meg down/384 up. So even better. Everyone around me in Plantation FL, has their cable back up but my complex!

Hehe what the headlines didn't point out is

probably 95% of the people won't be able to get it since they are having major issues with their DB service and won't be able to upgrade everyone as expected!

Re: nice

Don't you have to be literally glued to the CO to receive this speed?

Like other folks here, I am more concerned with the significantly lower upstream bandwidth and higher latency, as my use for the connection is much more symmetric in nature. No, it's not business, it should be symmetric, as I need to synchronize files among a few computers, and operate one remotely from the other.

Re: nice

No joke, my Charter 5000/512 just isn't cutting it anymore. Give me 5/1+ and I'd be happy for a while.
