Good idea for the portable DS users, but it can't come close to competing with Xbox live. But for those sheltered kids who only get to use nintendo stuff, I doubt they will get it because of parents being anti-internet. Unfortunately for Nintendo, like 80% of their customers are these sheltered kids who have never played an FPS game in their lives. |

Even if it wasn't designed to, it will make a great competitor. Free online play for first-party titles assures that. A Super Smash Brothers title with free online play at launch is pratically a killer app. |

is just not that appealing to me - and I suspect it's not appealing to many online gamers. One gaming site said Kart was adequately laggy. Since this is a free service, I just don't see them having a solid uptime either. If I want to sit around and have long game sessions with friends, then a 60" HD screen, Xbox360, comfy couch, and a supply of frosty cold beverages is more appealing than this. This is more of a gimicky item - especially with no voice communication for my friends or foes. Too bad Nintendo abandonned their online service for Gamecube in favor of focusing on this. |

Have you ever heard of the most revolutionary FPS of all time on a console - Goldeneye for Nintendo 64? |

Let's see here. $6000 TV + $400 XBox360 + $10 beverages + $10 for Xbox Live = $6,420. Or $130 Nintendo DS + Free WiFi + water fountain = $130. I wonder which option will be more popular... |

I noticed that also. Mario Kart isn't due out till 11/16. Either this is employees's kids with advance copies or something is fishy.
Regrading the service, I think it is kind of cool. My 9 year old has been going to nintendowifi.com almost everyday so he will most likely be happy when he sees it is up and running. I just hope some of the DS games he has at home are wifi compatible by full launch. Right now it looks like they only have 2 on site. |
