Stuck on Stupid

Sony has just landed themselves about 10 billion dollars of bad advertising. This is the most underhanded crap I have yet heard of. I will never, ever purchase anything on a Sony CD. It is clear Sony is doing everything they can do to discourage playing their CD's on computers.

Re: Stuck on Stupid

I think the boycott ought to apply to any products made
by Sony: not just anything on theirs or the BMG label,
but TVs, DVD players, Walkmen, PS2s & PSPs, the Vaio,
you name it. If Sony produces it, I won't buy it.

DRM

Digital Rights Management has been, is, and always will be defeat-able, useless, and a waste of time and money. Period.

Why DRM is bad for business

Someone here handed me the link some time back, I forgot who it was.

Its very simple...

Dont buy the product. The only power you have is your ability to spend money on the things you find to be worthy. These guys could care less about anything but their bottom line...period

This is a jab at iTunes

While I agree that Sony has clearly crossed the line with their spyware stunt here, I think that their original intent was to prevent PC users from copying CD's to their iPod's. Sony has made the process of copying your DRM CD to an iPod format very cumbersome but not impossible. As noted earlier, Mac users have no problem copying the CD to iPod. Sony is targeting a much larger base of users who might want to copy their music (PC users). Sony is very jealous of the success of Apple iTunes and iPod and are trying to confuse consumers into thinking that Apple is bad. I'm not saying this is "THE" reason that Sony decided to do this but it is just another slant to the big picture.

"DRM goes bad"?

"DRM goes bad"?

That's like saying "Spoiled milk goes sour".

Sony wet the bed with this move, now I'm eager to see them lie in it.

DRM

So Sony/BMG are playing god are they, were there is a will there is a way to bypass it, I used to be Mr Regular Joe, yes Id download a mp3 and listen to an album, and if I liked its contents, heaven forbid I used to in my ignorance buy the damn thing for posterity or my listening pleasure be it by regular means or via the PC or Ipod I tote everywhere I travel. Now Uncle Sony et al, have decreed I cant do that! because big bad Apple wont let them play in the money grab (look at the big Hogs run to the trough, in anticipation of a feeding frenzy). Oh well, nothing like a scorned multinational corporation. As for the invasion of my PC, by foul means and via spyware unlisted and hid, Sony brace yourself, I think the term ANTI- Trust sprouts to mind, Invasion of Privacy, etc etc, I hope you have a lot of smart assed lawyers to fend off the multiple class action suits. Oh and retailers of the defective and offensive mechandise, expect the return rate on CDS increase by the bucketload, cos I cant copy a legitimate collection of files to my Ipod, its defective. Please sue your friendly suppliers above, as I will be suing you for my money to be (when provoked by refusal) refunded.

Oh dumb motherf**kers at Sony and counterparts go get screwed, for CDs with DRM for my annual 15k spend, you're now gonna lose.! or I will go buy an apple! and bootleg at will!!!!
