Did I miss something?

Using Itunes 5.0 on XP with SP2, not a single issue.

It was already a mess before

I uninstalled a previous version on one user's computer, and it made the CD drive completely disappear from Windows. It was no longer in My Computer or in device manager. It would not reappear until iTunes was reinstalled.

I think Steve Jobs gets a kick out of messing up Windows PCs.

Re: Did I miss something?

As much as I dislike Apple, this doesn't really seem like a new news item. I post a bit in the WoW tech forums, and every time a new version is out there's a huge influx of "oh my god I started the game and my pc exploded" or "I started WoW and then my computer blue screened me" or "all the lights on my router turn on and I can't access the internet when I start wow". Seems to go for pretty much any software, and 99% of the time it's something on the user's end- bad power supply, old video card drivers, or a really crappily designed router. The possibilities are endless. I doubt many of the problems users are having with iTunes 5 is a problem with Apple's software.

Are you implying that Windows cannot be messed up unintentionally?

May I suggest.......

I would like to suggest this:

»www.dbpoweramp.com/sveta-portable-audio.htm

Sveta is absolutely the best software I have ever used for portable audio devices. It gives functionality to your Ipod it doesn't presently have. There is a fully functional 30 day free trial.

I found this snippet in some stolen iTunes code!

in file (think_different.c):

#ifdef (WIN32)
if ((rand() % 100)==0) // Randomly, 1 in 100 times...
{
switch(rand() % 4) {// Pick one of the following..
case 0:
// Macs are more stable. We need to
// crash on Windows PC's once in a while
// to reinforce this.
crash_inexplicably();
break;
case 1:
// Frustrating users with spyware is
// a great way to get them to buy a Mac!
secretly_install_spyware();
break;
case 2:
// Lets take a nap for a little while.
// Macs perform better, we need to remind
// the user how slow their PC is.
sleep(2000);
break;
case 3:
// Macs just work and are always easy.
// Lets create some problems for Windows
// users to troubleshoot.
corrupt_installation();
break;
}
}
#endif

;)

Been said before.

Apple can test compatiblity on all supported Mac's.

But PC's are so screwed up no two look alike and apple cannot test on all platform configurations.

Things can happen.

Yikes, help needed here.

>>>Apple can test compatiblity on all supported Mac's.

Macs not Mac's.

>>>But PC's are so screwed up no two look alike and apple cannot test on all platform configurations

PCs not PC's.

Just because you put an s at the end of a word doesn't mean you add in an apostrophe before it as well. You are just making the word plural. You are not making a contraction (do not becomes don't) or assigning ownership to something (Bob's TV). Get it?

Actually, acronyms are a special case and most grammar experts say that you can use an apostrophe to pluralize an acronym. Either way is technically correct. IIRC, the New York Times uses an apostrophe in words like "CD's" and "PC's."

So "Mac's" was wrong but "PC's" was OK

Re: Been said before.

I guess people are so screwed up because no two are exactly alike. That makes you screwed up

The guy who commented on your grammar obviously isn't very familiar with this site's different "post reply" buttons.
