I know Comcast has a good offer for dish customers, and does have some specials for new customers, but SBC is digging in deep and doing a lot WAY too fast.
To some customers, this may sound like a great deal, but to a lot of other consumers and investors alike, this would look like desperation in my opinion. |

| Great idea
But since they cannot get DSL to all parts of the city I live in and Comcast can get HSI, I don't think that I will be moving over to SBC anytime soon. Especially since I cut my landline and went with Vonage. -- Health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die, and the world death rate holds at a steady 100.00% |

Your right fiberguy.
On the heels of the FCC decision..
It's evident that they need more market share and here (CT) they think they can get people to switch from OOL to SBC. At least in my area.. I've know 2 people that switched from OOL to SBC but it was because of cash flow issues.
They (telco) have an inferior product no matter how they hype it. Compared to OOL's speed it's complete garbage! |

Deltathree (DDDC) is under contract to run SBC's VoIP. Today DDDC announced greatly expanded coverage of the USA, via Level 3 lines. |

I think this is great.
SBC is way better than the Charter we have here.
As with everything some places it will be better and some not.
I like the competition....

I am with Comcast and have the pro package 6/768 and I would try anything availabe at this time other than Comcast. you guys should check out the forums for Comcast. After 6-9:00pm, forget it.If your a gamer? Sorry, you lose.Latency has been really bad the past few months for everyone with ping times anywhere hitting as high as 300ms some at times seeing 900ms then settles down around 2:00am I think the best thing to do when looking for a different ISP is read through there forums at what people have to say about them. My connection was better when I was at 1.5/128 No joke. |

there are pros and cons to all issues like this.. a bold or ridiculous move like this for SBC (depending on how you view it), will effect many, including consumer and investors and SBC itself. my perspective as the general public is as follows: 1) SBC's decision to drag cable customers ATM is not a bad step to take for what they can for now. As the portion of a customer switching over, hooked by a deep promotion like this, will be less resistance to change again should their SBC's CUSTOMER SERVICE ever improves. 2) like with all decisions, there are always certain risk involves. it's the matter of which decision involves more risks that the company assess. SBC took a gamble here and from what i can see lots of heads are already turning so if within a 3 mo period SBC sees a substantial addition to it's subscriber, then investor will be worry-free and that is what i think the outcome would be. as more moving the deals and pushing the belly buttons of the cable giants.. nah.. i don't think it's fast.. i think it's perfect after the recent cable ruling.. if we hold back any longer we'll be like our ranking in the DSL world.. fall on top of our heels. |

What? Customer service my experience with sbc has been hellish. Customer service my experience with ool has been stellar.
Billing - SBC (double bill, charge for services not ordered, uncontrolled third party billing.)
Billing - OOL ( Never had an issue ). |

I was getting 4/384 in COMCAST (actually 3.8/320) ... but latency really killed the VOIP. QOS in best time is around 50%. In SBC 3/512 (2.4/420 actual) qos is around 97% ... makes things way different. I think cable is just not ready for voip yet. |

Your comments are so true "SBC is digging in deep and doing a lot WAY too fast." They are going to take a hit in profits for the quarter and hope to retain these customers over time. That's the key - the large telcos and cablecos realize that snaring and retaining is the root to true profits. Why they feel they need to take such drastic measures at this time is beyond me ??? |

| I kinda understand how that stuff works as far as how many people in your area on at any given time, thing is though the reason I never put to much thought into that is because we are out in the sticks were everyone has close to 5 acres so population isn't that dense. But could the node be old and them thinking because of our population we don't need something strong? Couple house here and there and Bam, full? How many is the norm, and from what I read in the forums a lot of others are seeing the same thing and they are scattered through out Washington. |
