Is this for the 1.5 Mbps package? If so, are they going to lower the price for the 3.0 Mbps package? |

| Well, this could get ugly.......
Let the price wars begin.
And while we are at it, get ready for the DSL and cable companies complaining they can no longer give you proper service (email, newsgroups, webspace, etc.) for that new low price.
Let the bitching proceed...... |

Now that is a killer price point. I'd be tempted to switch to a 1.5Mbps DSL package from my 8Mbps cable if it were $14.95 and not the $40 + POTS or so that Bellsouth wants. -- CertNews.net - Computer Cert Help and Tips! |

said by trparky :Is this for the 1.5 Mbps package? If so, are they going to lower the price for the 3.0 Mbps package? No, it's the 384, The 1.5 is $24. I was just looking on their site.
Still, I think it's time to call covad and either get my fee lowered or it's time to switch |

The terms didn't change, did they? You get a free modem and agree to a one year contract. No SBC local calling package required, right? Is there a catch? |

The new package has absolutely no meaning if SBC won't serve you with DSL in the first place.
New RT in place for 3 years; Stinger box in place and pulling power for 6 months; 2 unreturned promised phone calls; 0 DSL service and 0 estimates on when service will be available...
-- That means the parts are all in place and the money has already been spent, but still no service... |

SBC no longer offers the up to 384 kbps....it has been grandfathered since April 1st. This price is for the 384-1.5m package. |

No, it's the 384, The 1.5 is $24. I was just looking on their site. ...
You might want to double check the web page, I am looking at it now to confirm what I was told yesterday which is that the 384 -1536 download by 128-384 upload package is $14.95.
The $24.95 package you see is 1536-3000 download, 384-512 upload. They are both "Up To" packages.
If the link I posted does not work, you may need to select which state you are in and then try again. -- It truly is the lowest level where we ALL make the difference. |

J D McDorce Premium join:2001-12-29 Westland, MI | reply to Jon I guess that it depends on how you interpret SBC's advertised bandwidth. $14.95 is for 384kbps-1.5Mpbs sync rate, while $24.99 is for their 1.5Mbps-3.0Mbps sync rate. |

Same boat as you.
I'd be curious to see SBC's statistics of those served... perhaps something like percentage of customers that are physically able to get DSL that have it and one that lists those that want it but are not able to get it. I'm sure we'd all be amazed
I'm not in a Verizon area, but I'm starting to think I'll be on the list for FIOS before SBC comes through with something faster than the 42k I'm seeing now. -- Your mouse has moved. Windows NT must be restarted for the change to take effect. Reboot now? |
