Michigan is ranked number 49 in economy? Get used to this stuff. I will not take a cheap shot at both parties. Stop representing big business and represent the people who believe they elected you!!! |

What a gigantic waste of state tax dollars this will be if they follow trough with the suit. We have rapidly deteriorating roads that the lazy morons in the state refuse to repair, instead they put down those crappy cold patches that come out within a month or two. |

This is a case of stupid people not wanting to be held accountable for their own stupid actions.
Kind of like the guy that sued Winnebago many years ago because he set the cruise control on his RV and got up and went to the back to make coffee while he was driving on the interstate and ended up crashing and getting hurt.
Sad thing is...he WON because his Loser..Oh I mean Lawyer argued the fact that in the users manual of the RV it did NOT state he couldn't leave the controls while cruise control was on.
He was awarded something in the range of $1.7 million |

Why should they. I am sure their phone bills are paid for by the residents of the land. |

What makes you think they actually leave their homes to do civil service? |

I don't think its them being bored. It would seem that at some point it became the "in" thing to try and sink Vonage. Have you noticed how often people are taking shots at them? |

I was using alliteration with my example of the frivilous lawsuits that plague this county...
I should have used the old lady spilling McDonalds coffee on herself and winning almost a million dollars because of it.
My point was....people don't want to take accountability for their actions.... |

Couldn't prove that by the city of Detroit. The state has/is fixing all the major highways. Out in the 'bubs they've had it easy for a long time, now they're the ones not spending money to repave and people are moving back to the city and buying condos, etc. I guess suburbia is no longer the nirvana that everyone thought it was now that you're packed like sardines, have unending ordinances telling you what you can and cant do with your property, etc and taxes up the wazoo for everything.
What this goes to show you is that the Government of MI is not hurting for money...At least, not yet. What? you are surprised? They still have all those taxes they rip you for flowing in from all over the state. To give them credit, at least the state police haven't resorted to pimping for traffic ticket dollars like OH does.

Short of calling 911 from a Vonage phone, is there any means to find out where exactly a 911 call from my Vonage phone is routed? |

| Michigan Threatens To Sue Vonage
The problem being that the general public is use to picking up there regular telephone line and getting an answer. Packet8, Vonage and all the rest need to set it up automatically for the public. Why should I or anyone else do the job of a company that advertises a service and want you to do there job for them. If you are a company and offer E911, then it is your job, your companies job to set it up and make sure it works. Not the customers job or responsibility. Everyone seems to feel sorry for Packet8, Vonage and the rest because they are start up companies. If you do not want to serve the customer, get out of business and make room for someone that will do the job right. I don't have to set up my service for one of the Bells for 911. Why should I do it for one of the VOIP providers. IT IS THERE JOB TO MAKE SURE IT WORKS NOT THE CUSTOMERS! |

these days people dont read the fine print and they jump on the "i sue you!" bandwagon. True, vonage should specify in BIG ASS PRINT just so joe user who has a GED can understand.
People need to accept responsibility for their own course of action, vonage DOES state they do not offer true 911, they also did not force joe user to register for the vonage service. -- "Man who stands on toilet is high on pot." |

It is your job, your duty as a consumer to decide this and take the appropriate action.
When I first ordered Vonage over two years ago, they advertised that I could take my home phone anywhere that had a broadband connection. How do you expect them to automatically initialize 911 services when they have no idea where you are going to be? -- "Bah. Bush is no cowboy. As a Michigan resident, all I can do is shake my head and wonder how dumb our elected officials really think we are (don't answer that). I used Vonage and now Sunrocket and thought both services were most explicit about 911.
At least they're not trying to tax VOIP yet. |
