Well, I'm envious. I'd pay that without blinking an eye. Of course in the US you would have to scour the TOS to make sure they weren't going to cut you off after the first 10 MB of downloads.

In the US it would cost like 20 million a month for the same technology and speed. |

Considering not every server in the world is in the US or Europe I'd say it is still pretty much a huge pipe.
Not to mention that many servers can't handle sending data that fast anyway. And also I believe hk is one of the areas that does get unrestricted net access. -- "It's always funny until someone gets hurt......and then it's absolutely friggin' hysterical!" |

HK have had 6mb, 10mb for ages now... was only a matter of time before it was upped. Only problems with it is the amount of hops to servers in US & UK... really knocks the hell outta the line. |

So, would that mean you could get 250mbit for around $50?!?!?!?!
Wow, cool... you'd still max out 100mbit ethernet and need giabit+ routers/switches... |

| Its one fricken city. Who cares!
When any so-called provider can deliver that kind of coverage to say 30-50 markets then let me know and I'll take them seriously.
BTW, I could deliver 1Gbps from 'this' PC to the one downstairs but I ain't going to brag about it. For a single municipality, maybe the benefit can be seen in terms of VC1-based IPTV. Even at 10-Mbps channels HDTV on the order of 100 channels could be mustered. |

Look how fast your money flies out of your pocket. They can keep their supposedly 1 Gbps for that amount of money. It's just not worth it. Really, about the only ones to afford this would be the people running my city government. They could justify spending that amount of taxpayer money for each of their departments with no problem at all. |

Yeah, one city, with 2.2 million people. That's a few more PC's than your two in your house.
Anyway, it's cool. Don't be mad and jealous, you know you'd take it in a heartbeat if your ISP offered it.
Maybe RR will take notice and increase my 5Mbps to 1Gbps...
I'd love to see a screen capture from someone with that service downloading XP SP2... not that MS could keep up...
