| Comcast trouble. Does anyone know what is causing the problem with Comcast's DNS servers? I would think they would have several backup servers in case of disasters - but I guess I'm wrong.
Each one of these outages caused my cable modem to need a reset for some reason. I can always tell when they are having problems since I use Vonage, and calls start routing to my cell phone. I noticed the problem here in Maryland around 3:00pm EST on Tuesday, and it continued well into the night. Comcast's tech support number was giving me a fast busy, so many people were calling in.
This is the third outage I have had with Comcast in (3) weeks, all lasting well over 12 hours each. We should at least get some type of credit on our bills..
I also still don't have the Gold tier speed download issue resolved, which has been ongoing for the past 3 months! I just decided to go back to the silver tier..
I hope they get this mess straightened out.

I know it works so mark the time and get credit for poor performance!!!

| Re: DNS outages you misinterpreted my post. it is sad in the fact that all they can do is utter complete bullshit about what the problem is. they make so much money they can not have the cahones to tell us what is wrong? that is sad. a corporation that makes as much money as they do should at least respect the paying customer with a reason not the running in circles crap you get when you try to see what is going on. they did not even discuss it on their very own homepage! how wrong is that. i use Comcast and i have been an HSI customer since it rolled out in Chattanooga TN. i love it. the speed is awesome and the reliability save for the last week is near perfect. that is not sad. piss poor explanations is sad. | |

@comcast.net | Again! It's happening again! This is ridiculous. Luckily I saved that list of DNS servers (a huge thanks to people who posted it). Comcast needs to get it together.

| Comcast DNS out AGAIN!!! *3* times in 2 weeks!! Yes, you heard me right. At 9:00pm EST, here in Maryand, we are OUT AGAIN! I had to hard code my IP address with Level3's DNS servers in my Linksys to get up and running again.
Comcast needs to give EVERYONE a free month to get out of this public nightmare!!

| If this type of problem happened at my company 3 times in 2 weeks - not to mention the poor design - someone would be fired.
Comcast needs to keep their customers happy with Verizon FIOS just around the corner. They need to perform some damage control and give everyone a free month and hire some addition people that can assist in a better design.
I'm still waiting for the gold tier download speed problem to be resolved. Comcast needs to keep their cable modem firmware versions up to date, which they also currently don't do. They need a technical overhaul in my opinion..

@microsoft.com | Where can I find the outage news? I have been sweating past few days trying to salvage my Internet connectivity, ONLY to find out this morning that COMCAST has had outgate. I could not find any mentioning on their portal.
Thanks | |

| More DNS needed I solved my problem after reading through the first thread. Comcast DNS is primary and I picked another one as secondary. I'm like, "What outage?"
Any reason only two DNS servers? With only two, when one goes down, traffic on the other doubles, aka goes up 50% of the total. That can bring the whole cluster down. With 3 which the standards allow, when one goes down, the traffic on the other two only go up 16% of the total, just a blip.
