I agree. I remember RoadRunner back in '98 when I first got on the net. Talk about fast ! Then they turned down the speed to 2000 kb/sec several years ago without telling anyone. Sneaky B@#$#@!$ ! And speaking of more download speed...along with the 5000 down we presently get, how about 768 up ? |

Now make sure you have bandwidth limits as #9... -- I have a shaved head, a goatee, and tatoos. Don't you realize the rules don't apply to me. |

This is all great, however; ltry living in a small town in Southern Missouri where the T1 lines are primary and the T3 lines are a gleem in someone eyes and then pay for 4.0MB down and get 510K and 768 UP and 41K. There is a long way to go for the AVERAGE users. |

| reply to Wills You dont hit bandwith limits any faster with 100 mbps than with 10mbps. If you down load 200 GB's a month on your 6 mbps line are you really telling me youll download 500 GB's on 100 mbps? You can download your content faster, but it isnt going to prompt you to download more than you do now. |

There are many times I find myself waiting for one download to finish so I can begin another. This cycle can continue for a couple of hours. |

I guess OOL customers has to wait for #9 and beyond in order to gripe about something.
It does not mean we won't because by what might be #6 or something you will see whole lot of OOLers flooding this page. |

| 10mbps or 3mpbs to ISP's it should all be the same
The pirates will be pirates. 10mbps or 3mpbs they will do the same.
As for the rest of us gamers and engineers and other common users who actively use our full band for remote desktop sessions, VPN connectivity, remote file transfers..... Why not give us the MAX not your set max but the real MAX!
You still have the ability to monitor traffic and ask questions so what difference is it to you if a user has 10 or 3mbps down.
Upload is what I wish I had more of! I mean now having 768 is great but why not match the download speeds? Remote desktop sessions would be much faster and i could easily grab that file off my pc at home that currently i would be waiting hours to get. |

Whatever their number one will be, I hope it is cost. I currently pay $40 a month for broadband, only because I work with computers for a living, and use multiple computers at home. No casual user who just wants to do a little e-mail, and maybe some on-line shopping is EVER going to pay that much. |

Yes I would have to say better upload speeds. 768 does not cut it. I would be satisfied with even 2Mbit upload speed and say up my 5Mbit download to 10Mbit.

Preaching here to the choir does little good. As I've said time and time again, complain to PUC's, complain to your politicians. The only why speeds will increase at a faster pace is when competition is available to do so. 1 ILEC & 1 MSO is not competition. |

Bandwidth limits .... what is that ??? Here in SBCland there is no such thing as bandwidth limits. 5.0/520, soon to be 5.0/620 or there abouts with a coming upgrade.
We don't have no stinking bandwith limits !!! |

Oh boo hoo! I would love to be to pay only $40 a month for a high speed internet connection. The best I can do right now is 129k ISDN, and total costs for that is well over $80 a month. I was getting so frustrated with 56k dial up. ISDN is much better that normal dial up, and the low latency makes it useful for the things I want to do with my internet connection at home. -- bolt _____________________ »www.boltweb.com |

One big hurdle for DSL is that rate adapting DSL doesn't work well. Peruse through users' experiences with SBC's 6000/608 and note that people running at 100% capacity ("the max their line allows for") often experience disconnections that some users mistake as bad service. This is why SBC created the ramp-up process, although that 'solution' seems to have problems all its own. Bottom line: More speed is more headaches for DSL providers. This does not excuse the upload rates that are usually well below what the customer's line can handle, however. SBC, BellSouth, this means you. It's time for the 3mbps and above packages to get 768kbps up. -- \\ROB - a part of the SCB local network |

Ya but I have had wireless before and for what I do it just won't cut it.
I don't just need the band I need speed too. Wireless is just too unstable. |

The .99 just for effect.
They are slow, yet while we complain and yell at them for faster speeds, they never offer it.
So far Verizon is the only one actually EXPANDING thier network, but currently only to select neighborhoods of select states. Although Verizon is actually moving, it is still a slow pace. Take SBC for example, still fussing over what to do, who to hire, and havent really gotten out of the 'testing' phase. They are probably still complaining that fiber is not 'proven'. Get over yourselves, fiber is here to stay for a while at least. |

768 (especially Verizon's overhead-adjusted 863kbps) is real close to the top of the line for ADSL. I wouldn't expect to see more until providers switch to ADSL2+. -- \\ROB - a part of the SCB local network |
