| Cell Phones when we could relax?!?!?
We don't need to hear those stupid loud cell phone users on an airplane too. This is going to be almost as bad as those babies screaming in the back of coach. All I care about is free wi-fi on all planes |

finally. now we're not forced to use those expensive sky phones. but pretty pointless becuase i never get reception past a certain altitude, unless they offer service inside the planes from service providers above a certain altitude. |

Just consider what it's like to get an $82 bill for a 5-minute phone call from GTE AirFone. I'd rather use my cell. |

1 edit | Just Get Me to my Damn Destination on Time, Thanks
Bah, with all the current inconveniences with flying, they clearly don't have their s*** all together in their own business, let alone providing "luxuries". Overcharge me to be crammed into a damn tiny seat for 8 hours, living off 4 oz. drinks and pretzels WHILE running several hours late...cell phone use is the least of my concerns.
Hey aviation industry, could you JUST get me from point A to point B reliably on time? Some breathing room and a "meal" not consisting of condiment packages would be a nice extra...but I won't worry ya'll much about that. |

I agree but do not think this is really an AirLine decision, it is an FCC choice. If the ban is lifted then the debate would certainly come up within the airlines.
I personally like people to shut up on the plane. Not really in the mood to "chit chat" after rushing to the airport, to slow down, then wait let alone have to sit and listen to some teenage girl babble on and on to her girlfriend about how Joey left her best friends number on his phone.
I think they should take out those stupid phones in the seats, keep cell phone usage off, and maybe add more TVs with headphones or something. I like the meal idea too!
I also, since I am going on and on, really get annoyed at how once you land the cell phones just all come on. Everybody turns em on and starts chatting away. (They could just wait until the terminal). There is more annoying chit-chat at that moment about "how horrible the flight was" or if Spot has gotten over his explosive diarrhea. This is a prime example of how much worse your flight could get.
WI-FI would be nice. Just let me surf the web, quietly. You cannot really here my keyboard over the aircraft noise anyways. |

I can't believe that anyone would want the ban lifted. Stuck on a plane for 4 hours with some loud-mouth jackass blabbing not a foot away - having to talk over the loud-mouth 17 year old girl sitting behind you - "like, oh my GAWD..." - who of course is purposely talking loud in order to catch the attention of the 20-something rebel without a clue talking to his buds on the ground about all the super-important stuff they will do when he lands... and on and on. I've seen this in my nightmares.... the horror....
Bottom line - if you really think that the outside world can't survive 3-4 straight hours without hearing from you, you need to get over yourself.

They'll have a mini-transceiver on the plane itself. Yea and can you imagine how much they're gonna charge to use your phone on the plane.... I'm sure it'll be insanely expensive. |

Please people I can see people not being allowed in to use a phone in a movie of performance. But on bus, train or plane that is no reason to ban cellphones. Then problem is that cellphones dont work properly so people need to yell in it. What is the difference between people have a conversation with another person at a resturant or on a bus. I know I know you dont like the one way conversation well the conversation doesn't include you dont listen. If someone talks in a normal tone there is nothing wrong with a cell conversation. |

Any airline that offer internet can also support voice over internet protocol. So basically regardless if they lift this ban or not people will still be able to talk on the phone. |

Amen.
I would never thought that could be any situation worse than putting up with a screaming baby during flight (mostly because those poor souls are enduring painful earaches). But having to put up with those lingering pompous, loud phone conversations, particularly in first class, is far worse. It's bad enough to have to endure them while on the ground. Delta Crown rooms have a quiet zones where cell phone usage is forbidden.
The airlines should have a small restricted area for cell phone users in the back of the plane, just like they did for smokers in the seventies. |

Verizon Wireless customers can have their cellphone forwarded to Airfone. It is treated like a "roaming" call: $0.69/minute. Or you can pay a $10/mo fee and then calls are $0.10/min. Automatically "unforwards" when you get off the plane. |

Who cares about any of this? Hello??? FAA! They have the ultimate say, not the FCC. Last I checked the FAA is not going to allow cell phones on planes anytime soon. So all this FCC junk is a waste of time IMO. |
