Nah, don't screw around with government systems. If all things the government says, their computer systems they actually back up, especially the army. --

And this is a surprise to who?
Only the cheaters have to be worried and even then until a public arrest or lawsuit is out there it will not have the big impact.
I am hopeful that this is the start of a good change |

Definitely a great use of resources. Instead of cracking down on terrorism or continuing the effort in Iraq, we threaten cheaters of a stupid FPS that costs nothing to play. |

I agree Edward. If you want to play on the Army's servers, then you play by the Army's rules. Simple. -- Sentio aliquos togatos contra me conspirare |

| get rid of cheaters
I'm for anything that will get rid of the cheaters in the game. Last night I was playing in a new server we set up but had forgot to turn punkbuster on, in no time a bunch of cheaters showed up. Turned it on and I haven't seen them since. The game wouldn't be any fun filled with cheaters, good thing for the countermeasures. |

While your point is taken about using resources in general, they have commited to use a certain amount of resources to create/maintain the game and use it as a marketing tool.
That being said, mass-cheating on the level that currently exists makes the money they have committed a waste, so they feel the need to protect it. |

I still haven't finished laughing at the fact that they made it as a recruitment tool.
Anyway, I seriously doubt any action taken regarding this would hold up in court, assuming the judge isn't paid off - is this still possible in America? |

Maybe not a big threat to national security, but cheating would violate the TOS of the game and proably violate sections of the EULA too.
Cheaters of online FPS games help ruin the game for everyone. I stopped playing some online games due to the cheats and hacks. |

1 edit | Note the juveniles (literal and figurative)
Note how the literal (pimple faced whining, cheating brats) and figurative (older, but still asinine enough to cheat) juveniles come out and comment in a thread like this.
The Army has just found the best way in the world to fund the cost of the war in Iraq. How? I'd pay friggin' top dollar to sit in bleachers set up in front of the house of the first cheating brat to answer the front door and find a couple of Army MPs waiting to haul his ass off for violating the AA terms of services (if such a thing exists). Particularly it's some young piece of shit that needs to get outside and face reality anyway instead of sitting inside and cheating at a relatively decent game and ruining it for the gaming community. $50/ticket goes to fueling raids on terrorists in Fallujah and ensuring whatever peace can be established in time for the January elections.
If the AA group has time off or a lull in development, I'm all for 'em heading to a weapons locker and making a cheater run. Certainly don't, however, need military resources pulled off of REAL war to deal with these brats.
