Wonder how much upload? update: it's 800, not bad but not good, too much download I think, and the upload will be almost the same as what comcast will be giving if you have the 10+ bucks package. |

@lpl.com | reply to OreoleO Well if you had looked at the link for the brochure. You would have seen it said 800kbps upstream and 10mbps downstream.. |

Hopefully Comcast the supposed "Nation's largest cable company" will catch up with RCN. |

My god, I hope other cable companies will follow. This is great. A lot of people tend to think 10Mbps is overkill. But why? 100Mbps is the standard in some countries. With 10Mbps, we'd start to catch up. It's not that the cable system can't do it, it's that it would cut into profits. I hope my ISP, Comcast sees this and gets the idea. 1 edit | (Not a Rumor)Confirmed RCN is going up to 10mbps
I just talked to RCN sales and they said RCN is going up to 10mbps in certain markets. Those markets are new york and Massachusetts. According to the rep they have not determined if there will be a price increase, but the upgrades are set to start in Mid Febuary of this year. |

I can't fault Comcast too much, they've upgraded speeds two years in a row. I'm particularly impressed with Comcast's new 5000/768 tier. That's quite a big leap in available upstream speed. It wasn't too long ago when Comcast customers were stuck with 128kbps. -- \\ROB - a part of the SCB local network |

I'd wager 5-10 dollars if there was a price increase. Though, if i was smart, i'd take the Mach 5, up it to 7, and Mach 7 to 10 for free or 5 dollars more. |

I agree, 10mb is just silly, I see no point. Now you give me 5mb/3mb, and I'm sold! -- When all is said, and done, there will me more said than done. |

Comcast is doing a good job, one of the best at being near the top. I added that since that's my ISP. The 5/768 tier is a very big step and I thank Comcast for that. I was just trying to state if one can do it (never-the-less coming out of bankruptcy), I know the rest can including Comcast. -- CCNA Training in Progress - Webmaster of WRT54G.com |

| Give me the damn two way
It's ridiculous that RCN, in the year 2005, still doesn't have the much needed two way lines in some places. Get with the program, stop bumping the already high download speed up, and lay the damn lines so everyone can have two way access. -- 2.2GHZ 80GB HDD 9700PRO 512MB of DDRam Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Logitech Z-560s Windows XP |

I agree. They need to boost the upload speed and slightly increase the price and allow home-based servers. That would really put a hurting on web hosting providers. -- Gmail giveaway: »www.retailretreat.com/gmail.html |
