impressive

im sure there are alot of kids his age that could do things like that, but the problem is the worms are what comes from it. i am glad to see him putting his smarts to work for the better of everyone, and at the very least.................securing his future.

Young guns

Now that I think about it, the Mozilla crew is a bit of a young bunch...

Ben Goodger is in his early/mid twenties. Pavlov, when he first joined the Netscape open source push back in 1998, was in his teens.

IE and Firefox

Both IE and Firefox has it's ups and downs. But will Firefox always be open source?

A lot of the best coders in a lot of parts of the world are very young. I have seen a 19 year old code circles around a crew of developers. They have a tendency to have the time needed to learn and adjust to new methods and also the lack of kids and wives/life partners. The funny part is the older guys are generally very mad when these guys come and try to get a foot hold in industry. This tends to push them away from pro work and more towards the freeware/shareware and open source communities.

Re: Yeah

IE SUCKS. Patch after patch... never ending patches. Both netscape and Firefox seems to be a faster browser with patches require close to none.

Re: impressive

The issue that spawns the problem you mention is that young people often experience severe age descrimination while looking for work. They work harder and smarter than someone twice their age and make less than half of the money leading to feelings of resentment towards the world creating their glass ceiling. Why do you think young people always feel rebellious? Easy, the rest of the world is working to hold them down so they can keep what's theirs rather than having to share with the new hotshot.

Amazing

19. Amazing. I am suprised Google has not tried to add him to their team of brilliant programmers. I would not be suprised if they already offered him many times.

Re: IE and Firefox

Ups and Downs?, The only down in Firefox is the few odd pages that dont work with it. IE just blows in general.

I have a feeling Firefox will stay open source, due to the fact that most of the best software that is out there today is open source. Granted MS office and windows are OK, Linux, and OpenOffice have alot to offer. How much did you pay for Office? or Windows? How much did you pay for Linux, or OpenOffice if you have it?

It takes Microsoft alot longer to secure its software with patches becuase they only have a select employeed groups surfing through the code.

You take an open source software, allow online communities to surf through the code, and wahla! you have TONS of people, that put focus into "bettering" the software.

It will be a sad day if Firefox closes its doors on Open source.

Re: Amazing

Heard so much about FireFox from many people, so I decide to give it a try and .....................................
find out that Internet Explorer is still my choice. I believe Gate will somehow update IE to version 7, and put the end to any browser out there.

19 yrs old developing Firefox is amazing??????

If he could develope something like"open source Windows", that's what I call amazing. In other word, create a system that's free, and better than windows.

 Maybe...

...I'm just too stupid to realize why Firefox is better. I have it installed, but have not touched it since the day I installed it.

Internet Explorer does its job, plain and simple. My computer is squeaky clean: virus and adware free. (Sure, I might get a piece of adware once every six months, but that's nothing to cry about It's easily dealt with, anyways.)

I wouldn't call you stupid. But not having touched it since the day you installed it might have some bearing on your infamiliarity with the product.

I agree.

He hits on a very important point, without community support, no product could've succeeded as well as firefox has so far.

Firefox users are passionate, IE users are...well... let's just say they probably don't know about firefox.

Firefox is good

Firefox is good but there is a hard drive caching problem, you can hear the hard drive everytime you browse from page to page, with Internet explorer, it just jumps back and forth.

BTW,im using firefox

Re: The Article

Hmm... this is interesting. Every time I click on the link to read the article, the page comes up, I start reading and about 20 seconds later the page goes totally blank on me. I hit reload and up it pops again. Have done this 4 times now. (I use IE)
