I've got DSL at 2.5 meg down and 1 meg up but fiber speeds would get me to move my webservers back to the house.

| Funny thought... What if Verizon is just hedging their bets on VOIP? I mean, suppose the FCC gets it's way, and VOIP is minimally regulated (and minimally taxed). So Verizon offers POTS at $39.95 a month, or VOIP over fiber for $23.95 month (i.e. $1 cheaper than AT&T and Vonage). Coupled with another $39.95 for data, and $69.95 for 'cable' and movies on demand. Then points out to the regulators that most of the $13.95 was taxes anyway.... | |

| What kind of ISP is VZ?
I have DSL via a line provisioned by Verizon but I use a separate ISP (August.net). I set this line up 3 years ago and VZ was a very incompetent ISP and didn't allow static IPs and blocked several ports critical to hosting my own Web, Mail and FTP services.
Has their ISP services changed?

| VZ in Keller I actually live in Southlake which is next door to Keller and have seen Verizon's vehicles out here for the past 6 months setting up the infrastructure. I am approx. 1 mile away from the Keller border and already have a fiber hookup across the street from me yet they have not announced when they will come into my area... AAAARRGGGHHH. Had I not gotten this house 5 months ago I would seriously consider moving just to get this sweet of a deal. For a deal like this I would be extremely loyal to VZ for years as Charter just raised their prices to $50 for the 3.0/256 connection, SOB. | |
