Anytime after third quarter 2005 when the chipset is due. Only problem is the cable companies will still cap you at 128K upstream and 1.5MB downstream (because they can) -- I support the right to keep and arm bears. |

until the RIAA and MPAA can properly cripple sending and receiving devices with DRM. We don't want all this convenience and convergence to lead to indiscriminate distribution of copyrighted works over the internet, now do we? |

And the war will continue . Though I'm on the DSL half for at least another year (one year contract), I find it interesting how like Verizon is upgrading to fiber and how SBC is to try ADSL2+, and now cable possibly offering this. It seems like Cable and DSL Co's are sending more troops out to the fields if you know what I mean. -- Maaaannn you wanna come in the garage and see my merchandise? |

The technology is obviously available, but the cable companies won't react to it until somebody else does first. I have no pity on the loosing companies lack of a quick response. |

As a result of massive complaining to all levels of Cable Company "x", we have picked up the following schedule, leaked out by a disgruntled "x" employee:
NoVA - tomorrow, but you can't use it until they replace the modem they fried in the upgrade SoCal - day after tomorrow Phoenix - next week CT/RI - next week, but with massive packet loss Oklahoma - also next week, but only for OK customers W. Texas - depends on the election results So. Louisiana - as soon as the muni tries to implement Central Fla. - business next month, residential next year Las Vegas - Las where? Do we own a system in Las Vegas? Middle America (excluding S. La.) - we'd like to tell you, but that would jeapordize our competitive position. If you behave, good things will happen [whisper] sometime in October of 2046 [/whisper]
Until the upgrade is implemented, all "x" 1024/128 customers will be charged the same rate as the 56000/10000 customers. After all, fair is fair...
-- "Middle America Cox" customers passed over for three upgrades, but still saw rates equal to the upgraded markets. Most of MAC still running at 1/4 speed for the same rate. Cox has finally begun to upgrade MAC - will they complete the job? When? |

you don't think that the fact that DSL never seems to actually fulfil their lofty promises, or that their technology is only available to a select few who are lucky enough to actually live within earshot the CO will keep cable companies alive in 5 years? |
