1 edit | Cali sets a trend...
and its a good one, for the first time ever.
At one time, SBC was allowing this in my area years ago. The window was very small and you had to have POTS service to set it up initially. Also, my buddy in Texas got his service about 2 years ago.. same deal, he was able to cancel his POTS and keep the ADSL. |

They'll offer non-bundled DSL, but it will cost more than what you'd pay with bundled DSL. |

| the Lies THE LIES!
I can't undersant the lies being spred about the bundling, When I first got SBC DSL (via Ameritech.net) and at that time they couldn't bundle Vocie and Data and I'd still have that today if I hadn't moved. Its possible and they are just trying for money and I don't think that they should force it. |

| reply to Morac That's what worries me too. I would hope that the naked DSL is treated separate from bundled DSL in that the pricing stay the same or better if the cost go down since Voice wouldn't need to be supported on the line. DSL pricing already includes the fees to the ILEC and the DSL spectrum why double charge for something already being paid for. That's silly. |

I hope the other 49 states follow suite. I am paying $ 59.00 a month for POTS service, which I do not need, just to be able to get DSL. We rely 100% on our cell phones. I have coverage in all 50 states for $ 44.00 per month. Free weekend minutes and have never ever gone over my 300 free minute limit. Plus there is no charge for long distance calls. Who needs a landline anymore anyway?? -- Click here for some fun and a very interesting web site |

| Is this even about naked DSL?
The BBR synopsis seems a little misleading. The article talks about keeping DSL service when switching the local carrier (e.g., using AT&T local service). I don't see anything about offering DSL when there's no carrier at all.

Exactly. Out goes forced bundling, in comes massive bundling discounts...discounts as defined by them...massive price increases as defined by anyone looking for naked DSL. -- 10.98@121 |

Pay phones a dying breed in cellular age
Pay phones a dying breed in cellular age It happened outside the Big Boy in Clinton Township and in front of the Quick Stop gas station in Royal Oak. Customer Service, Dead of Alive? Customer Service, Dead of Alive? Is customer service dead or alive? My career experience has been primarily in residential property management, where I have had extensive training in customer service. As a result, I have higher professional expectations for those whose job it is to deal with me as a consumer. In the past two weeks certain events lead me to believe that customer service is a dying concept for some companies. »www.killer-essays.com/Business_R···88.shtml |

How about this: $49.99 DSL with FREE basic landline? (That's probably the same price as getting a basic landline + $26.95 DSL) |

Makes me want to post one of my SBC bills here online for folks to see. The taxes and BS are astounding...
It's depressing that the historic "WYSIWYG" aspects to service plans / price tags / etc.. no longer seem to apply to things. I think consumers have been patient and giving as far as minor new taxes and small price changes have gone, but we're talking about a service that costs US$27/month but _REALLY_ costs you something like US$40-45 after the landline and taxes.
