Comments on news posted 2004-04-12 11:09:39: The FCC is finally set to rule on a crowded spectrum debate that has been sitting in their lap for some time, reports Infoworld. The spectrum in question is what one Verizon spokesman calls the "beachfront property of spectrum real estate [1.9GHz]. ..

900MHz?

Hmmm...I wonder if this will do anything to the WISP's running 900MHz gear, for example those running this gear:

Find or list a wireless Internet Service Provider on the WISP Directory!

Phooey

If the FCC was run by competent people this mess would never had be permitted in the first place. One of the most important government agencies run by a bunch of political hacks. Their track record is anything but good. HDTV standard what?, BPL, Manna from the Power lines, 801. what? is that a library book call number, Blue Tooth??? a tooth paste, right?, Blackberry, makes a nice pie, LAN, wasn't there an actor by that name, Software, a fabric softener...right?

Re: 900MHz?

As I understand it, cell phones use frequencies up to 900. "900 MHz" WISP equipment (such as the Alvarion BreezeACCESS systems linked by Korym) really uses a range of frequencies from about 900 to 927. --C. Crowley, Wiacomm, Inc.

It's what happens when the Engineer-to-Lawyer ratio at the FCC gets skewed the WRONG way!

Don't blame the FCC for that...blame the telcos, cablecos and their regiments of lawyers and lobbyists. If you want the FCC to engineer you'll have to find some way of stopping the paper blizzard that all these NPRMs cause these days.

He's got a point Jim... Really sucks. The public has seen the value of spectrum...

Kinda reminds me of something from Gulliver's Travels. In the "good old..." we have established that everyone needs a lawyer. If not because they have a runny nose, then perhaps because the can't get it up. Lawyers are paid well, thus we create many new lawyers every year... end result... someone has to slap you in the face to tell you it's time to talk...

Oh, the lawyers are they guys with the flappers...
