Real Player sucked before, it sucks now, and It will continue to suck into the future. RealPlayer is the Gator
of the music player world. It wouldn't infest my computer at all with this turd except I have to have it to play it's extensions.

Unless they remove all of the BS, who wants it? I tried it(the free player) and had to uninstall it then reinstall it and uncheck almost everything(the report usage, message center, blah blah blah). The only reason I even have it is because it is proprietary to watch videos on some websites. |

I wonder if the format will be .rm files, LoL ... that would be extremely crappy. Noone will pay for RealPlayer files for songs.
RealPlayer sucks, it not only installs a lot of crap, but it always wants to take over everything on your computer, and become the default everything.
Plus, finding the free version on their website is always nearly impossible, as their site is extremely deceiving, and always trying to push the pay product.

Ok, Ok, I'll admit it. I use RealOne as my Main player. Why? because I have an MP3 player that RealOne is compatible with.
I have been using RealPlayer since it was version 5 (since it was about the only media player for a while), and I'll still continue to use it (I purchased the Plus version, but not the subscription.) It has everything I need to rip songs, convert them (to a variety of formats.. anywhere from 48kbps to 320kbps) and put them on my MP3 player.
I may be of a dying breed to still uses RealPlayer, but I'll probably be using it for a long time. |

It's still meets my definition of a virus, in that it takes over everything on the machine. Real Player is right up there with AOL. Neither is allowed on any machine in this household.;) |

I used it primarily because several websites I frequented only stream in that format.
I honestly wouldn't mind it quite so much if they trimmed a lot of the bloatware off of it. I don't want the message-center, Start-Center, Scheduler, or anything else......I don't want to login on first use either. I don't want to be sold a SuperPass, or directed to paid video news..... |

But why pay for something when there are many free versions that do the same things and don't try to take over your computer more than the OS does? And are a lot better (IMO).
I know you are entitled to use what player and/or software you want but Real anything is nothing more than bloated garbage. If a web site only streams or uses the .rm format i keep right on going.

Open source versions of Real Media Player and Server are available at »https://helix-client.helixcommunity.org
And RealPlayer 10 shares code with Helix DNA Client according to the web-site. So, you can build or download only parts you need. Good luck finding open-source version for MS Media Player. |

I don't use real, and never will in the future. Too much junk and bloat. If a websites have media that only works with real, I simply don't visit that site. I would rather miss a few (maybe) good media files then install this junk. |

They have to be the king of bloatware. They're even worse than AOL. It is indeed the music equivalent of Gator.
I refuse to listen (or watch) anything that requires Real.
