| Not a big deal....
It's not all that bad. They are pretty much SAVING the p2p network, the RIAA has been using Kazaa Lite K++ to track users down. And for all of you who are worried about Kazaa Lite dying, don't worry about it. crackers will be all over it! -- »yellow5.com/pokey/archive/index155.html

| It's not dead Kazaa like K++ works just like it always did, and it's NOT DEAD. I'm using it now as I write this.
All Sherman networks did was make it harder to find a download link to the latest version. They will still continue to keep updating kazaa lite.
Once they create some sort of client checking system what would prevent K-Lite from connecting to the fastrack network; I'll keep using it until then.
What I find ironic is Kazaa suing over copyright infringement when the PURPOSE of Kazaa is for piracy. And Kazaa lite isn't violating their copyright, it's still the same client (albeit older version) you'll get from Kazaa them selfs. All they did was replace the INSTALLER so it doesn't install all the adware crap.
WinMX used to be my favorite but every time I try to look for anything, the user(s) that have the file I want are already backlogged by 100 other users downloading other crap. WinMX sucks.
As for nutella, I haven't used bearshare or limewire or any other nutellla client for a long while. But I love the fact that it's the only cross platform P2P service out there that I'm aware of.
I'm hearing a lot of good things about eDonkey, but I don't know much about it. And it doesn't seem to be a strait one-download client you can install. Plus it appears you have to pay for it. WTF?

| Does the CD_CLINT.DLL hack still work ? Does the CD_CLINT.DLL hack for kazaa still work? I used it before awhile back & it eliminated all the popups, ads, etc. Please post if interested. Here is the readme for the hack... KaZaA Cydoor Spyware Removal REVISION 2 -- This guide will show you how to remove the Cydoor parasite mandatory with the popular KaZaA (for versions 1.5 and up), without crippling KaZaA's main program. FIRSTLY, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE NOT INSTALLED THE OTHER SPYWARE PRODUCTS INCLUDED WITH KAZAA (E.G. NEW.NET), OTHERWISE YOU WILL STILL HAVE SPYWARE LOCATED ON YOUR SYSTEM. - 1. Download Ad-Aware (with its latest .REF file) from www.lavasoftusa.com - 2. Install Ad-Aware, and run it. Scan your computer using Surface Scan, Deep Scan and all your drives. - 3. When the program has stopped scanning, it'll list all spyware located on your system. REMOVE IT ALL - 4. If you attempt to run KaZaA now, it'll say you have uninstalled a component and then it'll quit. - 5. Extract the CD_CLINT.DLL file in this archive to your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory (or or Windows NT, put it in WINNT\SYSTEM32). - 6. Thats it! KaZaA will run and it'll not have Cydoor active anymore. The only difference this .DLL makes, is that when KaZaA starts, it shows a small splash screen. Thats it! It does nothing else! The .DLL terminates, and leaves you to download to your hearts-content without KaZaA spying on you. You might have to repeat steps 2-6 if KaZaA bring out an update, as it might re-install the real Cydoor program (and other nasties). Please be aware, that if you run Ad-Aware again, it'll display this CD_CLINT.DLL file as spyware. It says this because of the file name. It has no communication with any software, and does not attempt to access the internet. DO NOT REMOVE IT OTHERWISE KAZAA WILL NOT FUNCTION!! (Currently this file has not been known to work correctly on Windows XP. As we don't have a Windows XP system to try this on, we wont know. But other operating systems have shown great compatibility with this). -- Readme created by the Capture the Pen Team (www.capturethepen.co.uk) -- .DLL originally downloaded from www.phazeshift.co.uk ============ Just don't forget to save the original .dll for uninstall. -SlimP- -- Visit Us Here! | |

| Diet Kazaa Diet Kazaa has recently releases another version. Diet Kazaa is slightly inferior to Kazaa Lite in its features but gets the job done most of the time and removes all the spyware after its been installed. That means that it will work even if any alternations to Fast Track protocol will be done since it installs OVER the official Kazaa client. link: www.dietk.com
Adware removed: Cydoor - The GAIN (Gator) - Altnet Topsearch - Altnet Peer Points Manager - My Search Toolbar - Joltid P2P Networking - Euniverse PerfectNav - Euniverse WUpdater - PopUps
other features:
Removes all BANNERs, POP UP ads, and Spyware! Built in Advanced Download Accelerator! Makes searches faster, and more results! Removes the extra buttons (Bonzi, Shopping, etc) Adds QUICK search shortcuts to the systray! Changes the KaZaA Start homepage Translated into 19 different languages so far!
also like some people said I advise transferring to other p2p networks such as ed2k and Bit Torrent. ed2k already has a higher user count than FastTrack in Europe and Bit Torrent is right now the best source for getting large files.

4 edits | Sharman/Riaa ya know where ya can stick it Kazaa Lite Rocks and will continue to rock as long as the users that can operate as a super node do so.Sharman just can't stand the fact that kazaa lite made a version that is better then the original one they made and that the majority of users don't like spy ware.(hmm wonder why) plus to boot riaa got them to give in also.
winmx great but needs to update their software cus it sucks too much ram
sharaza is the the best spy ware free emule/grutella client now
overnet is ad ware but runs other wise very good
bit torrent is the best direct download p2p ever
hmm why do we need Sharman again BOYCOTT IT and BTW kazaa lost over 50% of fast track user now anyway (kazaa lite users)
Riaa who needs them we can download all the music we want from P2P anyways BOYCOTT buying any music for a month or two and let then pay the lawyers on credit LOL
we're the idiots here for even thinking of supporting their lawyer bills by buying any Cd's and wasting artists money to arrest 12 yr olds or students
next thing we'll do is apologize for standing in the way of the bullet coming out of someones gun.
WHAT WE ALL SEEM TO FORGET WITHOUT US THEY ARE NOTHING
What they should do is this put Saddam on the riaa board and let riaa run Iraq hmmm oh yeah thats right we were going get rid of the oppression in Iraq weren't we
Oh well I guess we're stuck with em then -- To be or not to be is just a question its what you do that give's you the anwser

| Using a unique P2P computer
Does anyone else use a unique or stand-alone computer to download P2P files? I use my "old" Dell P3 desktop with 2 HDs so I can get inside if one drive is hit too hard to boot.
I do connect my notebook on the Internet (it's required for the work I do) and do my best to avoid locations that cause the biggest problems (although most legit sites now plow you with ad or spyware). I always back it up and I'm prepared to format and start from the beginning when and if necessary.
My "good" computer is never connected to the internet (although it's tempting). I can gather what I need from my other resources, ensure they are clean, then add them via CD or DVD. I plan on keeping it a virgin until the right of succession makes it my "old" computer (in a year or two).
BTW, I tried Shareaza (weird and sooooo sloooooo) after K Lite died. Has anyone tried Kazaa using Diet-K? I do miss the huge variety of files from Kazaa and the exceptionally fast download speeds.

| Germans Im not too worried. The best part about being fluent in german is that all the sweet cracks they make i can read about and use. SOO i trust that germans will figure something out to combat this. They always do. -- Drugs are very very over rated. Finaly got the money . | Kazaa-Lite 2.4.3 Strange Icon I know that kazaa lite is dead but using it still has no issues. But last week I noticed that the systray Icon changed. It changed from the normal pretty blue-grey gif in the ...web directory to a big ugly K. Has this happened to anyone else or is this because of the issues they are having of being shut down and all. Using it there is no problem I just don't like the way the BIG K looks. I thought maybe I got a virus i even formatted the hard disk but after installing it again all was fine for about a day or two then back to the BIG K in the systray. | |
