Ironic that in the referred letter, you can find the web address of said "violators" even though Google themselves had to remove it.

of course the only reason sharman is doing this is cause they are releasing a pay version of kazaa that still isn't comparable to kazaa lite ++ -- "At last those planes are flying were they belong." - Bart Simpson "That's right over the homes of poor people." - Homer Simpson |

Oh, also, at the page bottom it says:
"In response to a complaint we received under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, we have removed 9 result(s) from this page. If you wish, you may read the DMCA complaint for these removed results."
So Google only removed what they had to. |

And, unless that for-pay version has a little provision that indemnifies me from the results of sharing, why would I buy the real KaZaA? I much prefer K++.

Because they don't care about what people do with the software... they just want to get their spyware/adware in there, because that's how they make THEIR money.
If I did P2P, I -certainly- wouldn't use any flavor of Kazaa to do it. -- Windows, Mac, Linux, BSD - just use the right tool for the right job... end the OS Politics! |

| Kazaa Plus
Sharmen Networks is most likely doing this because it was announced just last week that they are coming out with a premium version of Kazaa called 'Kazaa Plus'. Why would I pay for Kazaa plus with no ads when I could just download Kazaalite? Another question is why would they wait till now to release a paid version of Kazaa? In my opinion this would be the worst time to release a paid for version because the Fastrack network is being probed by the RIAA, there are probably more fake files than real, and you probably have a 1 in 5 chance of getting a virus instead of the file you assumed you were getting etc. etc. [text was edited by author 2003-09-01 18:19:07] |

This kind of reminds me of the porno outfit in San Francisco using the DCMA to sue people down loading their smut. Imagine copyrighted hooters and Hines. Well at least they wouldn't have to use fancy sniffing software to track this stuff. I get the idea KAZAA is trying to make as much money as they can before they go the way of NAPTSTER. google shows you the letter that they recieved to remove the sites.. within the letter it contains the sites they removed:

That brings up another point of why does sharman send a warning to google to remove sites that are infringing when it should really just go after the individual sites for copyright infringement. |

Kazaa lite is great? K-lite is only a small fraction(like 1 millionth) better the Kazaa.Fake files, viruses, corrupt files and RIAA planted files.Use at your own risk. They both suck. |

I quit using KAZAA when I started running into kiddie porn mislabeled as big band music. This stuff was the kind that even having it on your hard drive might land you in jail. It was apparent these scumbags where hiding these files and telling each other where they were. I used a shredder to purge my hard drive of these files, I was not a happy camper. -- Low Brass & Irish Terriers rule, and I love the warm glow of a vacuum tube in the morning |

If you remember the ruling from a few months ago it is not illegal to use filesharing applications. What would they sue the people for? |
