These pings looks amazingly similar to the terrible service Comcast is providing in Montgomery County, MD. Of course, Comcast customer service reps would probably tell you it's not a problem until 5 people on YOUR SEGMENT have called in having problems. Too Bad that Comcast doesn't get fined in Montgomery County despite thousands upon thousands of violations...

Yes, they are milliseconds.... But that ping is very bad... a ping time of 4 seconds will probably make every page load for about a minute. Not even talking about doing anything else, like gaming, streaming, or even chatting... -- Need new avatar or help with graphics? |

WOW! That is amazing! And yes, those are in milliseconds. In the 4 years that I have been in broadband, I have never seen anything like that before! That is hardcore! If there is not some sort of action taken by subscribers or even the counties in VA that Cox has completely botched their time-based fiber upgrades, then something is serious wrong with you people! |

I'm getting the distinct feeling that someone that has influence on this site dislikes Cox. Of all the other ISPs that have problems, Cox in general, and NOVA in specific, get the most lopsided air time on here. I'm not saying that there aren't serious problem here, but there have been 3+ articles on this site referencing them in the past 2 weeks. -- "Do your duty in all things. You cannot do more. I agree. Hopefully, customers will start canceling in droves to protest this crappy service. Hitting Cox (a kick in the nuts?) in the pocketbook will force them to make good on their promises. Any other form of complaining to Cox is useless. -- Proud to be an American infidel. |

I agree Bill. The hsi Cox customers got their own forum while the other 90-95% of Cox customers (mainly cox-internet) are perfectly happy with our service and connections, but we have no forum to post in.
Also, Cox in general continues to get average and above average ratings from reviews. Cox-internet cable was in the top 25 cable companies in the comparison listings but because of all the negative reports from hsi and nova, they have dropped back out of the top 25 (the "good" ones).
If they are going to have a separate forum then I think the reports should be separated out also.

I'm in southwest VA and we have Charter. I went back to dial up because it was faster. My ping times were about the same as Cox in NOVA. Probably a tad faster though. My average ping time was 1200ms with 33% packet lost. This was with 384k. I went back to the 56k dialup because that's about the speed I was getting and it was only $10 a month.
Point of this? Yes COX is bad, but they aren't the only ones with the same problem. The whole attitude is wrong. Well we are the only ones that can provide this service. So take it or leave it. I understand why they don't want to upgrade because of the costs. HOWEVER, do NOT mislead your customers with ads of 15x faster than dialup. Because it's NOT. I know that they are trying to turn a buck, but they are actually loosing money because of their attitude. -- I am a Software Engineer for hire or contract. Please Instant Message me for details. |

You're not going to see too many good reviews for ISPs on this site. People who don't have any problems don't have much incentive to write in. For example, I, and everyone else I know who uses Comcast hasn't had a single problem at all with it, but based on the reviews I read here, you would think that Comcast was the anti-Christ when it came to internet service. -- Proud to be an American infidel. |

Well I was wrong. After looking at the latest cable company comparisons, the green ones are only 14 now, with cox HSI in the green and cox express(cox-internet) number 15.
So inspite of all the negative comments and the constant bashing of Cox on these forums, most Cox users are still well satisfied. |
