Proves

this proves that no matter the size of the company and how much money they got VZW and AT&T are no better than anyone else. And that any company should be able to do it; including any new companies.

What proves what? A piddly company offering barely-decent LTE is proof AT&T and Verizon don't have anti-competitive dominance over the sector? On what planet? Guess who fares better at auction?

Re: Proves

This post to clueless, to compare MetroPCS's small coverage area, and their LTE deployment which only exists in may 10 cities last time I checked and that delivers 3G speeds because they don't have the spectrum to build a fast 4G network (Guess who bought it all)
to AT&T and Verizon is insane.

Re: Proves

They're not in the market to build a fast network that matches VZ and Cellco. they're in the market to capture those people that do NOT want to deal with them, yet want a value for their dollar. And most if not all of their network is LTE now. And Metro can easily obtain the LTE network they need and have already with wholesale agreements. Why build and buy when you can lease?

Piddly company or not, someone else is still doing it. Oh wait, this site only cares if VZW or ATT is doing it. They don't care about the smaller Indie companies that are still out there. After all if it wasn't for the smaller companies like Metro Cingular/ATT and VZW/Cellco would NOT be what they are today. Thanks to mergers and buy outs, that is how VZW got to their size. and Cingular.

Back to analog quality?

Years ago I went outside and noticed my cell was connecting in analog with a couple bars so I quickly called someone to see if the audio quality was better. BTW it was MUCH better than bubbly droppy digital. If LTE can get us that quality again it would raise the bar for cell phone audio.

Re: Proves

Because VZW and AT&T won't lease on reasonable terms.

And Sprint doesn't have a network built out yet nationwide, though they're working on it.

And neither does T-Mobile.

If you're not gonna build out a network, you're called an MVNO.

That said MetroPCS is at least trying to get with the times. Ahem, CricKet.

Unfortunately for both unlimited regionals, they're losing customers...

Re: Back to analog quality?

What carrier are you on? I agree that a full-bar analog signal sounds better than a crappy, over-compressed digital signal. But Sprint and T-Mobile don't tend to have that issue.

And Verizon WILL in fact start offering VoLTE next year. Perhaps they want to wait until ALL their markets have 4G first. Considering Verizon has MANY MANY MANY more markets than MetroPCS that will take a bit longer to accomplish.

Analog? Where the heck were you and what phone were you on?

I thought analog died half a decade ago.

Re: Proves

MetroPCS has a tiny network, so it's a lot easier to upgrade than a behemoth like AT&T or Verizon.

Re: Proves

It's the same with the iPhone around here. Insult either iPhone or Verizon and all the sudden it's a shit storm. People can toot their horn all they want about the major carriers but at the end of the day they are the ones who feed the very same companies they complain about.

The irony is overwhelming.

I support MetroPCS and I hope they can at some point or another obtain some quality spectrum so they can expand coverage too larger areas. The only thing I don't support is the intrusive apps they install on every phone. If they gave the option of removing their applications I wouldn't have much to complain about.

VoLTE

The feature I am waiting for. 4G LTE seems kind of pointless (like 3G was) until voice and data are both supported.
