I was really annoyed when I was looking for a file on my teacher's site.

Go Daddy outage far reaching

Seems this attact reaches more than just Go Daddy housed accounts. I just had to Black Hole some 30 Class C IP's because of an attact on my web server. Go Daddy is where I purchesed my Domains.

AnonymousOwn3r...

Leave GoDaddy alone. *shrug*

I am having trouble accessing my e-mail through my VPS. My domain name is registered with GoDaddy.

Very irritating. *ugh*

"He denied, however, that it was a coordinated effort carried out by Anonymous as a whole..."

Well, let's change it the other way around, shall we?

"It was a coordinated effort carried out by Anonymous as a whole." Well, sorry to burst your bubble AnonymousOwn3r, but it is the entire Anonymous group that took millions of websites along with domains registered through Godaddy down. That is, I'm not buying that statement.

You might have the first clue I've seen to how this is being done.

Can you say anything about what kind of traffic it was?

I didnt see any problems today and i have two domains simply registered with them and hope to move soon, but they are hosted elsewhere. Are you using their name servers by chance?

I, admittedly, am curious to know this myself.

Re: Friends don't let friends use GoDaddy

I'm happy as I just transferred all my domains from GoDaddy this past summer; and got a free year + domain whois anonymisation for each domain for the next year.

I swear, GoDaddy rate hikes registrations year after year harder than Comcast bumps Cable pries.

A single bot herder can do - and does do - more damage
than most of the high profile Anonymous collective strikes that get media attention.

Also:
I've been watching this guy catch a lot of heat from other anons who don't like his choice of target
and that he identifies himself as an Anonymous "Leader".

Well... see... the problem is this: he is both right and both wrong. Remember, Anonymous is a fractured group of many splintering organizations and groups. There is no strucutre. Most of those who speak out announcing they are with anonymous due so because... well.. everyone is anonymous.

This is exactly it, though. Anyone can claim to be anonymous, ence the statement, "We Are Anonymous". So, when media outlets portray Anonymous as some organised movement acting in concert, it is entirely unrealistic and usually a complete misrepresentation of the actual facts of the matter. A more accurate report would be "an anonymous user" or "an anonymous group" carried out these actions, not some mega coalition.

Dont know how mission critical your sites are but you may want to look into DNS Made Easy for secondary DNS at the very least. $30 a year is some great insurance and peace of mind for me.

fianlly...

Finally managed to get nameservers changed via my 3G connection, which could log right into their site...

Painfully slow to do, and it kept giving errors, but finally got nameservers set to another service which we've been testing anyway. DNS appears stable there, though the internet at large will take some time to adjust.

Still not perfect, as such changes take awhile, but it's better than being as hosed as before.

Interesting side story - tested Google DNS from a remote machine, and it can't see changes yet. OpenDNS sees the change more quickly it seems... win...

In any case, I think we'll be moving at least a few domains (notably, the main site).

Moved from NetworkSolutions some years ago due to price, and also because of their parking shenanigans.

Anyone have any suggestions for a registrar / DNS host that is on par with NetworkSolutions? ...I'm all ears at this point... not really a fan of either GoDaddy or NetworkSolutions right now.

Re: Friends don't let friends use GoDaddy

Ditto here. I just moved a friends primary domain from GoDaddy to Namecheap a few months back.

A month ago I had his other domain's MX records pointed to a domain on Namecheap so he's mostly still up and running (except for a few GoDaddy hosted subsidiary sites).

I personally don't like GoDaddy.
I don't like the endless spam from secureserver.net and I don't like their support for anti-Privacy bills in Congress (CISPA).

Re: AnonymousOwn3r...

I've used my domain name for my e-mail, Asterisk, and FTP (at least I have my own static IP address registered through my VPS provider).
