The Bible Belt doesn't allow porn hosted

I have Hostmonster as my host which is hosted in a bible belt state. Utah I believe it was. My friend had a porn video showing on it. Our site got shut off till I deleted it. They said it was illegal to host porn on any host in Utah (bible belt states). Funny thing is that these people that got this passed believe it is alright to have multiple wives.

It doesn't matter what party is saying this. They are all criminals in my book. I don't know the difference and it doesn't matter how you explain it to me.

Never gonna be able to block porn anyway.

so tempting..

Can someone explain what the GOP master plan is?
That's when the poop hits the fan- it's ususally when these ideas see the light of day.. and are overtly put out into public discourse..

What is Porn?

If this abomination ever sees the light of day, who will be the ones defining "porn" ? Yea, I know someone once said, "I will know it when I see it" but one person's porn is another's "creative images" or "art".

Also have to love how they are tying it to child pornography. That seems to be the flavor of all things that are being banned. Wasn't that one of the major reasons for the SOPA or ACTA what ever that spying/censorship attempt was called.

Federal Statute, Please

said by PornHarmd.com :
“Distribution of obscene or hardcore pornography on the Internet is a violation of current federal law,” explained Patrick A. Trueman, president of MIM.
And the Code of Federal Regulations number is?

To them, all porn is "obscene" so they just lump it under the obscenity act.

I am against porn

While I support free speech, there should be a mandate that porn sites should have coding on them that activates Internet filtering software that is installed on computers and corporate networks. Also, they should require that any government agency or educational institution that receives federal funding to install filters on their networks/computers.

Re: I am against porn

[sarcasm]I'm against organized religion of any kind. Cable providers should activate filters to block those channels unless someone in the household can provide no less then 37 forms of proof that they intend to actually watch the channel.[/sarcasm]

In all seriousness, this could create all kinds of privacy concerns. Allowing websites to control things locally is a bad idea. What happens when someone manipulates the code that activates the filter and uses it against you?

The U.S. government can now control what foreign websites do?

Most colleges and libraries and corporations already have porn filters as a matter of course. I don't need the gov't to mandate what I can do myself.

The internet needs less new law and more parenting

Porn is nothing new and the underaged have been sneaking it by their parents/legal guardians/whatever for decades..whether its a magazine, tape, dvd or website. Parents need to keep an eye on their kids instead of just letting them have free reign to do whatever they want online. I know its not easy, but no one said being a parent would be easy. Times have changed but the responsibility hasn't. If you can't manage internet use in your house, don't have internet in your house.

Why I'm agasint this.

I'm very against the idea of porn being blocked over the internet, and here's why, what's stopping let say Target or Walmart from keeping you from going to Amazon.com to purchase a let say a roll of plastic bags, which is why I'm against blocking porn. Let me make it simpler, by asking you a question, would you want Google Plus to block you from posting an update about your day on Facebook? Exactly why porn should never be block over the internet. You want to keep your children from viewing porn, use proper supervision by sitting their with your child and don't rely on some lame excuse parental filter or some lame excuse political agenda that supposedly looks out for your interests when all they care about is theirs.

sitting there with your children*

I find politicians preaching morality very amusing

Perhaps after they give up their mistresses, their prostitutes, their young pages, whomever they planned on meeting hanging around public restrooms, the young interns they chase in their offices and the Amerikan Public not hear of such scandals for a decade or two, then, and only then should they consider themselves qualified to speak of morality. In the mean time, put your OWN house in order before you worry about someone else's house.

...

I long for the day when we can do away with the whole idea of "onscenity". This "I'll know it when I see it" crap is for the birds. I think major parts of religion are obscene. Does that mean I can have it banned?

Flashing back to the 80's.

This was the one thing I was against Reagan and Edwin Meese.

They went after the porn industry with a vengeance. Granted they made big headlines with the whole Tracy Lords situation.

I myself am a live and let live type of person. Until attacks start on porn and rock [I sorta remember the music battle as well. Thank you Zappa for taking a stand].

Take away my porn, and I'm going after your church. Plain and simple, Religion is just as harmful to a person as porn is.

Also, I recall a conversation i had with a cop about porn. He was telling me about a raid they did on an adult bookstore. Basically what is involved is someone complains that the material is objectionable/obscene. So a Judge fills out the paper work, and a raid is sent. They shut the place down, and arrest the clerks and issue a fine to the owner.
The cop told what is interesting though, is that the definition of "objectionable and obscene" are so vague. In some parts of America, seeing a woman topless is obscene and objectionable, where as in other parts of the country, selling material that shows someone peeing/crapping on another person is ok.

Which is why they try to prosecute internet and mail order companies from a bible-belt state like TN, where they can get a more sympathetic jury.

Look up the case of the Amateur Action BBS. It was a subscription based BBS in California run by a husband and wife team. You had to pay to download any of the pictures. A postal inspector in one of the southern states started an investigation against them. He actually mailed them child porn against the wishes of the owner and then used that to get a search warrant. As I recall, they were convicted of distributing obscenity, even though none of the material they had on the BBS or that they sold through the mail was illegal under any other law.

It's a trap!!!

You guys are such suckers. One tiny group can rile so many people up. How many members does Morality in Media have? 5? 10? They probably operate out of small office building in DC somewhere where they can do their advocacy near congress. They know they can't block pr0n, but yet they will continue to get money to their 501C3 to keep trying.

So, romney is getting substantial contributions from churchs

so now we know where his political campaign fund donations are coming from, this happens with all presidents, they get donations from some organization, and then they are expected to push their agenda!. well, religion don't have any place in government!. we went through that with reagan, although his reason for doing that was because he thought god saved his life!. still, religion in government leads to abuse of power, that's why it's forbidden in the constitution. no thanks, but each person has his own way of practicing his religion, we don't need it forced!.

So the GOP is literally a bunch of unabashed two face liars

Smaller Government. Less Regulation. More Freedom. Isn't that what the GOP professes to want?

Sure, when it's receiving health care, trade or financial matters... every man/business for themselves!!!

Getting married? Oh no, we'll dictate the rules as to who is allowed
Got Raped? Forget about an abortion if comes to that, forget publicly funded crises centers too, too many social programs... hope you got insurance or cash, because there ain't no public health care for you either. Hope you belong to a good church so your community can help you, because that's all you got... Too bad you didn't own and carry a firearm, maybe you could have protected yourself.
Internet? Sure, but only what we believe is moral... just like Iran and China, lands of the free!

I used to be a republican, I've voted republican most of the time in the past because I agreed with the general sentiment... I don't know if I'm getting older or they're changing, but lately I simply cannot stomach what this party is standing for. They've always been a religious party, but I don't remember it ever being so bad...

If they actually believed in individual freedoms their official stance on internet pornography would be NO STANCE because it's not the government's job to decide what I choose to view, read, etc.

Seriously

Well, if you are going to block internet porn then should also block obscenity in public. All these sobs that walk down the street grabing at their knees to hang on to their dam pants....guess what off to jail you are either actively engaged in or about to be a child porn offender!

You want to walk down the street or through the halls at school with your thong sticking up outta your pants, you want your crack to be be sticking out like some kind of gas vent, well you guessed it obscene and child porn promoting!

Next, all those who are under 18 and fall in to the above situations your parents go with you as they are the morons that seemed to have no problem sending you out half naked, and are just as guilty if not more so!

Seriously, looking at legal porn is now the "gateway" to child porn? Maybe just maybe it has something to do with so many dam kids walking around with way too much uncovered and for whatever reason seems to have become socially acceptable these days, maybe that is the problem. No idea why the sudden change in dress but hey whatever maybe it's global warming.

Either way maybe the morons in govt should go after that before they worry about solving america's divorce rate and peoples sexual dysfunctions leave that for the Dr.'s and medical researchers!
