 | hell ye not only is this good news for t-mobile users it's also good because it forces sprint to keep their unlimited now if att stopped throttling unlimited users after a measly 3gb... fucking assholes |

 | I'm Holding My Breath As a consumer, I would obviously love it, but so many carriers have backtracked on the promise that it is obvious that this is a very hard promise to keep. The networks that promise it become a victim of their own success and then start thinking of the guy who streams a video on the train ride into work as "abusive."
It takes a ton of money to put up a tower to deal with network overload. Their is neighborhood opposition, zoning issues, leasing issues, and then there is the installation.
When people start looking at network loads and see that a ton of the usage is from people watching HD movies on the Galaxy 5 Note, they will start thinking of reasons why this shouldn't be and blame the consumer.
TMobile is losing customers right now and is taking the relaxed position. If they get the iPhone 5 next month and if they turn things around, there will be pressure on the company to spend the money on a ton of things other than network development. Then the TMobile can simply rewrite the definition of the term "unlimited" in the contract or adopt a new meaning to its term "reasonable usage" which is in complete derogation of its contract. |
|
 | when Will they add 'truly unlimited' to the Webster dictionary? |
|
 | But read the fine print Take note of the fine print with their 4G unlimited. On their commercials it states after 100MB of 4G you are throttled to 3G speeds. |
|
 | coverage There coverage is getting worse. I keep getting a lot of dropped calls in my area. It used to never drop calls. |

Re: I'm Holding My Breath they don't want the iPhone 5. And the data caps have nothing to do with "abusive" users. it's just to upsell customers. |

 | what if you are caught tethering since they are making a point to mentioning loud and clear that tethering is not allowed i am wondering how they plan to control it.
what exactly will be the consequences for people who root there phones, tether and get caught?
cancellation? automatic plan change?
re rating of past bills and collections(possibly in thousands of dollars)
i do not believe it will be easy at all to control tethering since people are getting more and more sophisticated in bypass methods.
also what about a super powerful android with ubuntu in a VM and a keyboard, mouse and large display? such a setup could easily consume tethering quantity data. |

Re: But read the fine print The 100 MB throttle is only applicable on the $50 Monthly 4G plan. This is talking about a feature added to a contract plan. -- "He's on that Jazz, man"... |
|
 | So you pay $50 a month for a 4G plan and are throttled after 100MB of usage?
That makes a lot of sense. |

Re: I'm Holding My Breath I'd say there is a 99.9999999999% probability that TM will never "get" the iPhone. They simply won't pay Apple what they want for the phone.
Obviously TM has done the math and feels that most of their users won't exceed 5GB of data. Given that they are offering the Unlimited plan for $20 (which is what I get 5GB under the Loyalty plan at), they are really not charging any more for this new unlimited plan than what they have now.
I don't really see this helping TM unless they spend the money to advertise that they are offering unlimited data. It will cost them to get the word out but I think without the ads, the plan is about worthless, customer retention-wise. |

Re: what if you are caught tethering Well, since tethering will be an obvious breach of contract, I'm sure they will "punish" you. However, I doubt they will go to extremes since they aren't exactly the largest carrier, and customers are likely more valuable.
Of course, I'm sure that their prevention of tethering is something simple, such as the option not being there. There are numerous ways to tell if there is tethering happening, the simplest is probably by looking at web browsing headers to see what the OS/browser is.
That being said, I doubt that they will be too strict, but you never know they might just upgrade you to a tethering plan like AT&T was doing w/ their iPhones lol |

Yup it's usually the q tips (older people I think you get it) usually are fighting it left and right. The Cape Cod wind farm they have been trying to build is another example of q tips fighting the town.
I could care less about "property values" if a carrier came knocking at my door and asked if they could put up a tower and rent my land I would say hell yes and keep your money. |

With them launching pcs 3g and 4g right now, I'm not shocked.
