Some of the co-op's are pretty good. Southslope for example. I have heard great things about their ftth, although they severely lack on the upload side. |

"Effective August 1st, new Mediacom Internet customers, and existing customers who choose to move to one of Mediacom’s new service plans, will have monthly usage allowances that vary depending on the level of service they choose. Monthly allowances range from 150 GB per month for our Mediacom Launch service to 999 GB per month for our Mediacom Ultra and Ultra Plus plans. If needed, additional bandwidth can be purchased for any service plan in 50GB blocks at $10 per block.
Our average Internet subscriber currently uses only 31 GB of data per month, so we don’t expect these allowances to have much impact on our customer base."

Re: Not per-byte It is not reasonable at all. Sadly, it is better than some of their competitors especially smaller ones such as LISCO. Mediacom knows they can get away with this cap because several of their competitors are already doing it. The consumer loses. |

Anyone using under 40 GB of the extra 50 GB is paying too much on overages. |

If the ones that go over either go to another service or reduce their usage once again no overage money for these companies. So where is the money grab? | I think they are hoping people will move from the lower tier to a higher one to get away from the 150GB cap. Their top tiers have a surprisingly high 999GB cap, which I doubt even 0.5% of people reach. But on the lower tier, I bet more than 2% of people hit the 150GB cap. |

not now but in future as usage increases more people will go over. If they do gradually people won't complain like you and just go along with it. can you honestly say your usage hasn't increased in the last three years |

Re: ...and the alternative is? Only if its a Co-Op and those wanting it are the only ones that pay into it. Otherwise NO unless the network is FULLY Opened to ALL Companies to offer service - and those who still do NOT want to pay into it- are opted out of paying for those bonds. |
