yabos join:2003-02-16 London, ON | Rogers rip off Sorry Rogers, but your TV, cellular and internet services are way over priced as it is. Your new guide is too slow and clunky. Yes it's better than the one before it but it's still too slow. Your DVR is a rip off at $25/m rental. Your basic cable package is over priced for the little channels you provide. |

| Cheap yet expensive If Nadir Mohamed took a 2 Million dollar paycut (down to *gasp* 6.18 million) he could probably save all of these jobs and open up a couple more callcentres to boot.

If there's one good thing about this, it's that they're not getting any of my money. Yea I don't think so. If you only wanted to save the next 400 from getting laid off you would need a hell of a lot more than $2M dollars. Lets assume the average salary is 35K before taxes. 400x35000=$14M. If you wanted to save the 300 before that as well 700x35K=$24.5M. That's not taking into account any type of health care or other expenditures that goes along with keeping an employee on the payroll. |

The average salary is most likely well below 35K/year and aside from group dental and prescription coverage there are no other health care costs to cover. Still, your point stands, albeit your numbers are a bit by by a few million bucks. |

However, at 2 million he'd be saving 57 jobs, and Rogers doesn't offer any type of health benefits to their call center staff (they tried to recruit me in 2007 so I have some knowlege of their entry level offerings)
My opinion of Nadir remains; by your math if they just got rid of him, they'd save 251 jobs. (8.8 mil/35k = 251)

In 2007 they attempted to recruit me at $15.68/hour with no benefits... that probably gives you a rough idea of how much they're spending on wages.
It's the bare minimum that's for sure. -- Everything in moderation... Including Moderation --Oscar Wilde |

ARPremium,ExMod 2001-04 join:2000-09-21 Toronto, ON | 800 contractors let go I was talking to someone who used to work in Rogers IT (That job is around $74/hour for a FTE) and I was told that the 300 jobs are FTE which HAVE to be announced.
But what wasn't announced when they cleared out 800 contractors. Assume average hourly rate of 55/hour and that's a LOT of cash. |
|
 | A standard 40hr week is 2080 hours. 55/hr would be $114,400 a year.
These jobs obviously may be higher or lower pay rates. |
|
ARPremium,ExMod 2001-04 join:2000-09-21 Toronto, ON | These are IT contractors.....so $55/hr is on the low end.
114,400 x 800 = LOT of cash.
IT budget at Rogers is around 250M at the least. |

 | It's a Global SCAM by ALL corporations It's a Global SCAM by ALL corporations around this planet to get more profits into investors hands and force the poor into further poverty. It's also a sign that the capitalist system is feeding on itself and it's on it's last legs before a total crash. Rogers is unwilling to expand on 1 hand and can't due to customers getting wise to their overpriced and 'cheating on services' games.
Back in the 1950's and all the way back to start of settlers in North America it was well understood [comprehended] fact that a "job" was only a temporary thing til you got your affairs in order. Meaning a man [man or woman] would work for someone til they could afford to buy a piece of land [crown land] and start their own operation on it. This meant self sufficiency and neighbors helping each other ... in turn creating strong communities where big business and corporations didn't get a chance to invade or steal.
To make sure this didn't happen big business has been buying up free land, doing foreclosures, firing people, taking away workers rights and creating all manner of situations to keep workers in their place ... as slaves to big business system. They realized this in Wisconsin, Greece, present student demands in Quebec, plant takeovers by workers in USA, Mexico and revolutions in just about every part of this planet.
Solutions: 1. use that job to get your own clean land and or start your own operation 2. learn your rights from ancient texts, books and scriptures. Most are already on internet »www.sacred-texts.com 3. join or learn from a freeman movement on how the system operates in the background and what your remedies are: »www.lawfulrebellion.org »www.freedomrebels.co.uk ... also see links on left side of page 4. learn how to deal with Admiralty courts and Common Law courts for your remedies .. it's not hard to learn the basics .. all you need is to grow some balls ... »www.youtube.com/user/StrawmanRedemption

Re: Cheap yet expensive I think since Nadir took over the company has been getting worse and worse..
Though, I do think that when companies lay off employees that government should tax them higher , since they are putting more into the unemployment figures and EI applications! |

Someone needs to tell China, Russia, & Brazil and some others that capitalism is dead. Because they are strongly growing their economies using the capitalist system. |

 | I'm glad you brought this up. If 1 looks at global situation comprehensively then they find a plan is in play ... endgame of which is »en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia_Guidestones Now what is the ruling class going to do with rest of us?
I think it's already evident by combination of GMO foods that cause sterility, big pharma using poisons for medicine, austerity measures, global war on terror / killing off anyone that opposes the ruling class, hording of gold silver platinum and other minerals, hording of resources, poisoning of planet via oil and oil products, and other chemicals and so on.
As far as the ancient records say this happens every 12,500 to 13,000 yrs. They also say that a catastrophe happens at this time that wipes most of life on earth.
BTW: i see you support Romney ... did you know that most presidents are related to British royalty and they all have the same game plan?

Globally all so-called leaders are part of the same game plan and few original bloodlines. That's why the 99% movement against them. |
