Sorry to say...

But the more they speak, the less I listen.

Memories

This is what this whole experience reminds me of. Can anyone find the irony in this? It's from a movie in the 80s called Amazon Women on the Moon. It has to be one of the funniest movies of all time IMO.

Punish the buyers, not the pirates... great strategy.

What more can I say than my subject, they're punishing those that legitimately purchase their movies rather than those who pirate. A pirated DVD can skip this BS while an MKV or AVI file doesn't even have it, so the only people that are annoyed by this are those that legitimately purchased their discs.

ripping software..

these warnings were laughable in the days of video cassettes.. and even more lame considering that a pirate will bypass this because the warnings are a separate file which doesn't need to be ripped when the ripping software takes out the DRM and bypasses the warnings, macrovision and any other nonsense put into a disc. software is already available for blue rays to do the same thing and make an almost 1:1 COPY (minus drm and copy protection) 25gb or 50gb disc.. doesn't matter..

with the internet pirates probably dont' even get to see a disc unless it's a blank one they'll store the data on.. hard drives are getting big enough to warehouse video on (4+tb) for YEARS... this business model is failing, along with cable-tv.

next shoe to drop.. watch them rai$e prices on media...

Screw the paying customers

So with the advertisements you can't skip over and the new privacy warnings you can't skip over, you will be waiting 30 minutes before you can actually watch the DVD.

One way to give paying customers a "Good User Experience"

Dumb idea

I'm less likely to buy physical DVD's and Blu-Rays these days.

The RIAA and MPAA and all these scum-bag media companies keep making consuming media more annoying and complicated. Why should we waste our money on their crap?

You want my dollar, start working for me, not against me.

If big media want me to be their target audience, and if they want access to my money, they need to stop being a**holes.

Oddly enough...

Oddly enough... those piracy warnings are not there by the time these DVD's are on my home media server. I wonder how that happened?
