You know they waited till there was money to be made, and not surprisingly, they just made 16 billion(freaking outrageous if you ask me, who here is waiting for another yahoo like bust?), and the lawsuit is supposedly for up to 15 billion. It was timed, no doubt, to coincide with the IPO. And anyone who believes a company that sells ad space, and customer data is worth over 100 billion is nuts, because all it takes is a newer, more popular site, and all that billions becomes junk in 10 seconds flat. Look at yahoo. Their IPO was somthing like 1 billion, and they were valued at something like 30 billion. Now, yahoo is garbage, and all it took was a more productive, cheaper site(google).
So, the question stands: who will be the google to facebook? Whos going to kill this trend and cause all valuation in web sites and ad space to crash? I know I do my part and run Ad block plus, because I didnt want to see an internet full of ads ever, and they are now just getting to be as bad as the popup wars of the early 2000s and late 1990s. Its only a matter of time before browsers start blocking most ads because of malicious activity and user demand(from annoyance). |

Washington, DC | T-mobile does have a data plan for families The standard is data $30 per line, or $60 for all the lines on the family plan to have data. I'm actually not sure what the limit for throttling is, since all of our phones are slow  |

| 150 communities are doing broadband on their own terms I had no idea there were so many! If you listen to all the business-can-do-no-wrongs in the forum, you would think every community broadband project ended in dismal failure.
There is little doubt in my mind that when they are not sabotaged by on-the-take politicians, or sued out of existence by mega corporations (who many times don't even want the business!) local government Internet projects are going to be sucessful. The extreme inefficiency of corporations & shareholders taking billions in profits for their pockets rather than re-investment in infrastructure or simply lowering prices is EASY to fix. |

15 billion? for whining over using a voluntary service the whole planet has long known is likely a bad idea if you have secrets you could get bitten in the ass over.
Some people simply need to be told to keep their dumb f**king ass off of Facebook if they don't want such and such detail leaked all over the internet.
In fact, if looking at porn is a problem, STOP LOOKING AT IT stupid.
Don't say things about so and so if them hearing you said it could cause you harm. Maybe learn to shut up in public.
I am sooooo utterly an odd person. You guys likely don't know a fraction of the things about me, which I don't care if they are public knowledge. If I WAS worried about those details, I wouldn't be online exposing them to discovery.
Fortunately my IQ is a full spectrum higher than most people.

This is why I think the laws need to be laid out, in order for a corp to due over a community broadband project they have to already have an equal system in place or be ready to have an equal system in place with in two years. So if for example if AT&T only had 1.5mbit DSL in some small area and that area wanted to roll out an HFC network with DOCSIS3, AT&T could not legally sue unless they pushed their network up to D3 speeds to all homes.

| Facebook and other suits These class actions should be opt-in, not opt out. Lawyers just clean up whether or not all of the people in the class were really "harmed" or not. I just got one about some thing with my car's advertised versus actual mileage and that I'm automatically in "the class" despite the fact that I have no problem getting my EPA mileage if I don't drive like an ass. But opting out is a hoop of writing a letter, paying for the stamp, going to the post office etc...who is going to bother?
Seems to me most of these cases are just fleecing schemes. |

Do you have a source on this? I can't find anything about it on their website with the rest of their plans. |

Re: Facebook, Bad or Planned timing? It's nothing more than Fanboy financing. I would bet that 90%+ of the people who are investing are Farcebook regulars. It's a good short term buy but I sure wouldn't bet my retirement on Farcebook.

Considering that AT&T has effectively stopped expanding U-Verse and Verizon has effectively stopped expanding FiOS they clearly don't want the business in most places. |

Re: 150 communities are doing broadband on their own terms I am sure that the fact that both of them are also wireless providers has something to do with it. These companies seem to be forcing the use of their capped & throttled wireless rather than wired networks.
It actually looks a lot like the music/movie industry's desire to legislate consumer demand to fit their most profitable business models. |

Re: Facebook and other suits I shouldn't have to actively preserve my rights. They should be preserved by default and I actively decide to include myself in the class. Other people shouldn't be deciding whether or not I am harmed. I can figure that out on my own. |
