Oh Look

Yet another nice idea that is absolutely useless because it is unaffordable.

This makes about as much financial sense as offering higher data speeds so you can hit the caps faster.

I agree. That's why I waited until the current phone I have was off their list as having a data package requirement.

Yes... Innovative indeed.

if it were exempt from the cap, it'd violate net neutrality

If watching "other people"s "mobile video" counted against you but Verizon's didn't, that would be an unfair tie-in. And definitely not network neutral behavior.

It's not a service I'm interested in, but its nice that Verizon is trying out new services in a net-neutral way

Too expensive, given verizon's data caps

You can get hulu plus for less, which may even have more content.
As a someone with a grandfathered unlimited plan, it might not be too bad, but for someone on a 2gb plan, your basically paying extra for streaming video and then getting charged again for overages.
I understand the net neutrality implications but it doesn't change the fact that it's a bad deal.
Maybe if Verizon has instituted reasonable data caps, maybe 5gb for 3G and 20GB for LTE it would be ok.
But as always their only interested in finding new ways to cox users into overages.

Isn't this vcast?

I seem to remember they debuted something similar with vcast years ago. Only difference is that it allows full episodes now instead of just clips.

Ripoff

I hope this is a failure.. There is nothing good or innovative about this. It is and yet another way to screw their customers. 100 % unaffordable.

Re: keep rolling out bad ideas

Umm, this is an additive service. Why would customers leave because of an add-on service that they may or may not be willing to pay for?

WTF? Really?

This lame brained idea would've been your typical carrier add-on BS that I could've cared less about. However, since they conveniently (for them) decided to only have it work over THEIR data network (no wi-fi), I'm pissed off about it and I'm not even a VZW customer. Its a damn clear money grab by not allowing it to work over wi-fi. WTF....are they insane?

Obvious money-grab

I'll pass... Besides, I'd rather have (if I had the money) a Slingbox w/ Android app for streaming OVER WI-FI!

Re: WTF? Really?

Customers aren't required to subscribe to this service. If they don't like the terms, they can avoid it. By basic definition, any service offering by a business entity is a "money grab".

It's such a bad idea..

That I thought AT&T came up with it!

@comcast.net

You left out the best part!

In addition to the $10 monthly charge, they charge you an extra $5.99/month to subscribe to Crackle through the Verizon video service! Crackle is free! If you have an Android phone, most of them can already download and run the Crackle app, which again, is free!

Thank you captain obvious. For a second there I thought I had to start sending Verizon a check every month and I don't even have service with them!!!!!

The point is that there's a lot of whining in this thread (and this forum in general) about VZW doing nothing more than conducting a "money grab". People tend to whine and throw around terms that they don't truly understand the meaning of. So, if I need to be "Capt Obvious" to correct a misconception, then give me a cape. Like it or hate it, this VZW service is an optional service. If you don't like it, don't subscribe. If you do like it, then enjoy watching video on a tiny screen for $10/mth.

Since select others tend not to contribute much to discussions, I though it the least I should do.
